I just wanted to bring to everyone's attention that this guy is starting as a rookie and doing very well. He fits the athletic guard role in our scheme and can get to the 2nd level on running plays. we have a keeper not named Pouncy on the line

If we bring Jerry back and with Garner's ability to play multiple positions our interior might not be that bad... we could do with just 3-4 OTs LOL...

He has made a few mistakes here and there but with has been excellent at making adjustments and taking to the teaching of Mckinnie and the coaching staff. I know guard is a hard position to evaluate unless you break down tape because all you tend to see are the mistakes but I would be interested to see someone compare his performance to Chance Warmack over the last 3 or 4 games who many thought we should have taken possibly at 12.

I know Warmack is probably more polished but as far as getting to the 2nd level and getting push or holding their ground along with making adjustments I would be interested in some sort of comparison.

I know jerry is a good pass blocker but he's just too damn fat to block in this scheme for the run. I'd like to see him replaced as well.

Well we only have so many day one picks and money and a bunch of defensive FA's we need to resign... maybe a 1 year prove it contract?

he's been solid as a pro in his limited time. Thats a good sign. This OL needs all the help it can get.

Hopefully he can develop and we can pretend he was a draft pick because otherwise this draft class has been a disaster.

i agree he's been great! i made a thread about him a few weeks ago saying that we should maybe keep him as a starter... seems to be holding down the fort, and with a full offseason to train with the line i don't see why he can't be great

isn't that what we said about last year's class at the beginning of the year? now look at Tannehill, Vernon, Miller and Mathews. patience my friend

I know very little about Sam Brenner. It seems more rare to find undrafted gems for the O-line. How was he missed by all teams in the draft analysis?
Anyone who can accurately identify O-line talent to draft value for those positions is someone Ireland needs to listen to.

Brenner is a great story but, only a bit below average in his short time on the field. He does show the potential in being a starter when he gets stronger and develops.

Almost as rare as finding top drafted gems for the OL. :)

Dallas Thomas may factor in next year. Some of these guys need time to adjust. I agree that finding Brenner was a great find. Just in time.
McKinnie should also be brought back for leadership and on the field coach. He can still battle. if he could lose 30 lbs, he could probably play even better.
The team should consider making him an assistant coach once he hangs up the cleats.

From what I can tell, our run blocking has improved with Brenner out there. He looks competitive too. Give him some experience, and he should be better. Maybe Miami doesn't need 4 new starters after all. I'd still like to get bookend tackles and a really good guard.

I'd part ways with Jerry, keep Brenner, and get a really good guard in the offseason. Hopefully Dallas Thomas is getting stronger as we speak so he can at least be a usable backup eventually instead of being worthless.
