Definitely unexpected but I doubt he would have made the team.
Not to be a jerk but is it a "retirement" if you only spent 3 months with the team and didn't play a single snap in game.

Seems a bit cryptic. Wonder if something cracked him or he just didn't have a passion for the game. We have some great talent evaluators.
We had a local guy who was just ahead of me in high school and went to Syracuse play for the Steelers in camp as a walk-on. He decided after a few months he didn't belong in the NFL.

suspect if he had even a slim shot at the ps this thread wouldnt exist
He battled injuries at Michigan and almost got a medical release from scholarship before his junior year as there was thought he may not be able to play. Good kid but doesnt have the athletic ability
