Undrafted rookies Torry McTyer, Maurice Smith make case for Dolphins' 53-man roster

Rookie defensive backs Torry McTyer and Maurice Smith joined the Miami Dolphins this spring with few expectations. Neither player was drafted and joined a Miami secondary with plenty of veteran experience.
But injuries, one long suspension and overall inconsistency with pass defense have opened the door for McTyer and Smith to make a solid case for Miami’s final 53-man roster. The two also did their part on the field with solid play on defense and special teams during training camp and the preseason.

Not so sure McTyer outperformed Tankersley as Walker states- but he and Smith both did get noticed.

I like McTyer. I would keep him over Pitts who was on the team late last year.

I was actually impressed with Smith last night. Always around the ball, aggressive, even used as a gunner. He may have some good upside. Worth at least practice squad if he doesn't get poached.

I think Smith stood out the most at safety among the other prospects. I like his size and he can hit.
