The Patriots win the AFC East ever year. Beating them once a year isn't enough to take the division. Sweeping them isn't even enough. They win 11 or 12 games every year ... some years more. The success of Garappolo (sp?) shows that it's not just Tom Brady that makes the Patriots so good. So, aside from Belichik retiring ... how do we overtake them? Our division has seen strong defenses fail year after year. Occasionally, our division will have a good offense ... but it's never enough. I ask you ... how do we do it?

On a related note, a friend of mine sympathizes with Brady in Deflategate ... which upsets me to no end. I told him that Tom Brady destroyed the phone with the recent texts, but did not destroy his phone before that, or the one before that. But, my friend wants proof, and I can't seem to find it. Would some of you mind sending me links that show Brady only destroyed the phone with the recent texts for Deflategate but not the previoius two phones? Thanks. I really need those links.

Simple answer. We probably don't. This division is just way too weak. Those guys tend to have things wrapped up come December. Not sure anyone has an answer seeing as the answer hasn't surfaced after this many years.

NFL needs to make new divisions every year. Playing same team 2 times a year for the past 60 years is getting old.

Good question. Whoever has the answer, these guys want to know also . . .

Here is a link describing how both previous phones were examined (not destroyed) but the last one was destroyed.

he discerning reader will notice that we’re left with a gap between Nov. 6, 2014 and March 5, 2015 in which the contents of Brady’s text messages are unavailable. Considering that the AFC Championship game was contested on January 18, 2015, this is a crucial four-month period. This is the destroyed cell phone that so rankled Ted Wells and Roger Goodell.

1. Deflategate was overblown. Like you said if the success of Garapolo proves its not just Brady that makes them so good then it should also prove the success wasn't due to the inflation level of the balls. In hockey if you are caught cheating with an illegal stick its a 2 minute minor penalty. In football you get suspended for a quarter of the season and your team forfeits draft picks. Something is out of whack there.

2. Earlier in the year I think it was Peter King that reported the reason McDaniels name is not on some head coaching prospect list is because he's in line to take over as head coach of the Patriots when Belichick retires. If this has already been set up then you would think its going to happen sooner rather than later. At the very least they should have a date in mind. And if Belichick is kind he would give McDaniel a running start with Brady at QB so it might happen as soon as this offseason.

Stop dude. You're going to drive yourself crazy. The day will come when they don't win the division every year. AS far as Brady. Look as what he's doing this year after missing the first 4 games. I'm sure the footballs are fine. We will win the division when we have the best team and that moment is not now.

Ozzy rules!!

Division is NE's as long as Brady and Belichick are there. Guaranteed.

Pretty much...think about it, the last time somebody other than NE won was our Phins but it took Brady missing the ENTIRE SEASON, AND they still finished 11-5 but thanks to the wildcat we nudged by for the division.

Remember that one time when the Patriots we're going to start this season 0-4 b/c Brady was out. :chuckle:

^ NY Jet writers, BTW.

Agreed, they don't win because of Brady. They win because of coaching. That said, Belichick is not infallible, case in point losing to Miami in week 17 last year and the arrogance of having Brady hand off almost every down in the first half. That said, his failings are less than any other coach in the NFL and by far way better than any coach in the AFC east.

With Brady gone, the Patriots will not be the sole owners of the AFC East. I don't care how typical they looked with Brady out for the first four games.

There is a reason he will end up going down as the literal GOAT. Brady is arguably the best QB in the NFL at age THIRTY NINE.

Garapolo's success =/= Brady's success and McDaniel's Patriots =/= Bellichek's Patriots

They are both that good.

Gee, I wonder who coached up both Brady and McDaniels . . . :ponder:

It helps when you have microphones in the opposing teams locker room, head phones failing, tuck rule, deflating.... etc
