UPDATE: Stadium proposal APPROVED/Ross will sign a 30 year lease with Miami-Dade

Hold on, I thought Ross was going to move the team. That's what I was told, just on this very board.

Not Ross, the next owner who would inherit an un-renovated stadium. Ross planned to sign a lease once the renovations were done last year also.

Because the 2006 renovations proved to be such a deciding factor in Ross' plans to keep the team in Miami.

The NFL understands its not in their best interest to lose the South Florida market. Despite some peoples insistence, the league wont go against their best interest just to "put the city in their place".

But oh well, at least Ross gets his time in the spotlight(maybe, if he can outbid Atlanta, good luck), so who cares if the team is stuck in a stadium that is dying around them for another 10-15 years? Ross got his. And because he just loves Miami so much(despite the implied threats of selling to another owner who would move the team?), he signs a lease which can never ever be broken under any circumstances. What a guy.

How can people kill this deal? If anything, Ross is being too generous.

Hayden if you lived here you would feel the wave of the other side. Just look at the comments below the article or Braman's comments in the article. Did you see the poll I posted on the other thread that Nublar started? The public is 50/50 which is why I think the vote will be close, but what do I know maybe it will sail on through. If it does not pass not sure what option Ross would have left except to do it all himself.

I'm all in favor of Ross moving the team.....BACK to Miami. MAN I hate JRS

Actually I think it's more an issue of your political belief system. Do you side with big government or big business?? Most people love to express their disdain for the rich until someone reminds them they are the rich they are hating.

Yeah, heaven forbid Ross sells the franchise to a new owner who is not satisfied with the stadium. At that point we face two roads. The fear crew fixates on the possibility of moving. I cherish the potential for a new stadium with actual home field impact in a relevant rollicking location.

How many franchises relocate, compared to how many decide it's time to build a new stadium? It's amazing what passes for logic around here.

I will say this...if this fails and was Ross, I would look to move the team. It would be obvious that the community does not care about the fins and moving them is simply a business option.

Those like Alex Marvez that state Ross would never do that because he "owns the stadium" are simply stupid. Move the team, flatten the stadium and create an industrial park. Ross would make just as much money if not more compared to the usual dormant stadium.

South Florida needs to get on board.

The state, city, community and businesses all benefit from having a premier sporting event like the Super Bowl in their city. It's been proven that sporting events are integral in supporting many local businesses and creates jobs. The argument will always be that a Billionaire owner is trying to get richer while getting the common man to pay (taxes). yet big business is and will always be the engine of economic stability to matter what the industry. There are ghost towns all across North America that are reminders of what happens to a community when industry finds doing business there unprofitable.
