NFL draft blitz just updated their picks as of 01/06/2005. Leinhart was supposedly #1 a few weeks ago and heading to San Fran...now all of a sudden Alex Smith of Utah is listed as the 1st pick in the draft......Smith's stock has gone up faster than Ben Roethlisberger last year. The Phins take Cedric Benson with our #2 pick, and Aaron Rodgers goes to Cleveland. Interesting.

I can,t see us staying at number 2 with Saban. I see a lot of trade downs for us during this draft. Saban knows we are a number of players away from the playoffs. With Saban just out of collage he is the best scout we have. He can pick the sleepers for us and I think thats what will happen.

draft picks

i was looking at several different draft sites ans some of them thought we we would take cedric benson while other sites had us picking arron rodgers or a lt . i hope we could get ronnie brown because of his work ethics but benson is ok its that he sometimes takes plays off . i like jason campbell he is very much like ben r. and that was coming from a anouncer durring the auburn game.

I definetly see us trading down, but not numerous times. This draft is not strong enough to trade down alot. We need to pcik up a couple of picks, but not at the expense of getting good quality. This is a pretty weak draft, so trading too far down would not make sense. I think we trade down once.

Eh...If we had to pick at 2, I'd rather take Marcus McNiel....that'd give us a nice pair of massive young tackles on our line. We can get a back in FA or later in the draft (LaMont Jordan or maybe T.A. McClendon)

my thoughts to. if we stay at 2, take McNeil. Plenty of Backs we could get.

I hope we trade down and pick up either Brown or Williams from Auburn...

That site is obviously a joke if Alex Smith goes #1 over Rodgers. Alex Smith plays in an offense designed to do great without a lot of talent (like Texas Tech). No way he goes #1.

Every mock draft I've read has us taking Benson. Seriously, I haven't read one yet that didn't. If Benson is as much of a "me guy" as I've heard, I want NO part of him. I still say go RB in FA and draft Rodgers. If we pass on Rodgers, Braylon Edwards.

every body is blown the Benson attitude WAY outta proportion. people are way to worried because of the Ricky ordeal.

Nothing to do with Ricky. I've heard from a couple people on this board- one of whom lives in Texas and follows the 'Horns- that Benson puts on a show for the media that he's this nice, humble guy, but behind closed doors is an egomaniac. Refers to himself in the 3rd person, bitches if he doesn't get the ball enough, cares more about his stats than wins and losses- if that's true, NO WAY I go anywhere near him. I HATE guys like that.

Ideally aren't all offenses designed to do that.

I guess it's slightly better than a RB that cares more about weed than his stats or wins/losses. ;)

Why shouldn't I? I don't know the guy- I don't know anything about him other than he's a good football player. The people that posted this don't have a vendetta against Benson- and really- would it surprise you if it was true? He probably is an a--hole. I'm sure Saban knows the truth. And if we don't take Benson, I'm fairly sure we'll all know the truth as well.
