Upside Case On The Dolphins Pass Rush Next Year

I love the young man but I wouldn’t resign him unless it’s a cheap contract. Those injuries always affects players negatively.

I love Jp but he’s in a prove it year and has 0 leverage

I would not sign him until at least mid season to see what’s up

well you can wait to see how he looks. these days, ACL is easy to come back from. he came back very quickly from the achilles too. on the one hand, I think he might be a tad over-rated. his production has been good, but never great. on the other hand, was still young, and never had a chance to fully put it together, because got hurt 2x. then the other question is is he injury prone, or was it just bad luck? the knee seemed like bad luck, getting taken out by poyer. but hard for me to know. hopefully he can come back for game one, and then they have a pretty good read on him by game 8-12, and can figure out what to do. it will be interesting how he looks.

He's been pretty good when healthy, but has also gone silent for long stretches where you didnt even know he was on the field. At this point it's looking like he will never be what we all expected.

It would be incredibly foolish to sign this guy to an extension before the ENTIRE season is through.

After the season, Phillips hits Free Agency and then you’re competing to resign him unless we tag him.

That’s the risk tradeoff.

If Phillips is balling out, he actually may not want to sign during the season either.

Meh we’ll see.. I think at some point you can make a determination on the skill set

The skill is not the issue. It’s durability up to this point.

This kind of stuff is funny. And as much as I dislike Chris Grier, he has fans who damn him either way.

A mid season extension is about the stupidest move you could make for Phillips because you’re not getting ANY discount.

The price of a mid season extension will be the same price as free agency 3-4 months later. So there is no point to signing that.

The skillet reference is to determine whether he’s the same football player.

We’ll see if they staff is stupid on this like you said

Hardly strange, I’m trying to ensure he plays week 18 and hopefully in the playoffs.

How much would you bet on him to healthy at the end of the season, if he started playing week 1?

This is the most absurd take I've ever seen
in 55 years of following the Dolphins/Nfl.

He never is actually quiet, he gets held almost more than any player I’ve ever seen and almost never gets the call. Only player I’ve seen held more was Wake.

Let's see if they can stay healthy, and what Weaver can do with them. I think the pass rush will be critical this year, because I am not sure what we will have in the secondary, and our linebackers never seem to be great in coverage either. Side note Greg Rousseau just bagged a nice deal from the Bills. Both Jaelan Phillips and the Dolphins have to be looking at that as a baseline:

Lol cmon man your too smart to get your hopes up. The key here is IF, and that's a big dang IF. Have you ever seen how they repair an Achilles? It's crazy. They literally drill holes in the heel bone, put some type of steel braided type thin rope through there and attach it to the torn part of the Achilles and pull it back together. It's nuts.

Ain't no way we can depend on Phillips now after his knee and now this.

Chubb, he basically ripped every single thing that's possible to rip in there. I'm surprised he still has a knee! Lol. Stick a fork in those two. They're done.

We literally have a one, maybe two man DL, half an OL with two of that half always injured. And thats not even talking about the paper thinness of the rest of the team. We are more screwed than a lot of people think but I'm just basically sitting back this year. I'm not really going to kill peoples annual (hope or excitedness) but it's not going to be a pretty year.

Thats some excuse you got there. Sheesh.
