Upside Case On The Dolphins Pass Rush Next Year

We went to the post season without him in 2023 and likely would've last year too if not for Tua's injury. Tua's had a winning record every year so if he's healthy, I already expect to make the playoffs.

Getting to the post season isn't enough of a goal for me to expose that dude to a whole season's worth of football only to not have him when it the games actually count.

If they can't get a wild card without him, it doesn't make a difference. If we didn't have Chop, I might feel a bit different.

I am not playing him for at least two months, its your right to disagree.

If he's going to play half a season, I'd rather it be the second half.
Do we have any update on his recovery status? Hard to have an opinion not knowing when he is supposed to come back, how the surgeries went, all that stuff. But generally a year for an ACL right and he got hurt 2 months into the season roughly? His schedule to return very well may be mid-season already and that's if things go well for him. Doubt we will rush him back so you'll likely get your wish here, maybe not week 18 but likely a 2nd half of season return.

I wouldn't re-sign him for more than a year. I absolutely love the player and it kills me that this happened to him but as far as counting on him, that ship has sailed. The only value I can get from him now is the 2nd half of 2025 and the postseason.

If he can make it through that, he'd be looking at a one year deal with incentives, best case scenario.
Ok. Then for consistency, shouldn't you make the same comments about tua:
-sit him out the first 8-10 games so he is available for the playoffs
-you hate his contract and believe you can't count on him and it should have been a 1 year deal with incentives. And before u say tua wouldn't have signed for that, jp won't be singing for the deal u suggest either

No because I am not as concerned about Tua's viability as I am Jaelen's. Tendon's and ligaments for a guy who's bread and butter is athleticism is completely different than a guy who's had some concussions mainly through his own negligence. And Tua's availability will determine whether we make the playoffs so its not a valid comparison.

I am not even remotely concerned with Jaelen Phillips next contract. I'm trying to get something of value out of him in 2025.

Apples and oranges.

not really apples and oranges. also tua's problems go beyond concussions. it was his hip at the end of the year, and in college, as well as ankle and pelvis issues. jp is also substantially less expensive than tua, and frankly has more ceiling. you are free to your opinion, but it does not seem consistent to me.

Sure it does, going to the playoffs is very difficult if Tua misses more than 4 or 5 games. If Tua didn’t miss a game last year we wouldn’t have had a problem going to the playoffs without Phillips.
