Can someone clear things up for me about how it works, Like playing this summer is to qualify for the upcoming Olympic games or something? I would also know if anyone know the Rosters yet for the team I know that Kevin Durant and Greg Oden was added.

we're basically doing what every other country does; set up a camp, compete every year, and get ready for the Olympics. The rest of the world is too good to just put together a team right before an event. (See 2002 World Championships and the last summer olympics).

Oden and Durant were invited to camp along with Teyshaun Prince, Tyson CHandler, Jason Kidd, Deron Williams, Carlos Boozer,Amare Stoudamire, and Kobe Bryant will be playing this year.

Oh, and with FIBA rules, you'll see more role players.

The National team has been a disaster over the last several years. All i know is they need to put a team together good enough to reclaim America's sport from the rest of the world.

Honestly I'd just send the Suns. Their style of play is like the style played in the Olympics. Though I doubt an NBA team would want to do that.

I wouldn't be opposed to that either

In fact, i had previously wanted the team that wins the NBA Championship to be sent over. Naturally they are the best TEAM in the league, in the best league in America, thus they should represent us.

Plus unlike these all-star teams with all the flash and show. The NBA Champion is usually a defensively solid team who has a lot of chemistry together (DEFENSE!? OVER SEAS!? OUTRAGEOUS!). A team like Phoenix, San Antonio, Detroit would have no problem doing this country proud in international play.

Phoenix without Nash, Diaw, and Barbosa? The Spurs without Ginobili, Parker, Oberto, and Udrich? Even Duncan can't decide if hes from the US or not. The best teams in the league are filled with foreign nationals.

The idea they have is the right one. Fill the team with young stars who still have the legs to play all summer. Of course these days very few stars in the NBA know how to play off the ball. Hence the inclusion last year of Battier and this year guys like Prince, Kidd, and Boozer.

Seriously if all the NBA would participate we could have a SICK team no doubt...

Nash, Kobe, Bron, KG, Stoudemire etc..

our depth would be soo sick.

I was thinking more along the lines of an "NBA national team" against the world teams. Instead of our US National team that nobody wants to play for anyway.

Because obviously the Spurs and Suns wouldn't do to well without their international stars.

What are you talking about? Duncan played for the US and Fiba screwed him over and he said he would never play in FIBA again.

1)Nash is not American, he's Canadian.

2) No we would not be sick.

In 2000, had it not been for Vince Carter playing with passion throughout the tournament, we would not have won the gold. If we send our very best NBA players over we' get killed in FIBA rules games; hence TD's ineffectiveness and AI getting excluded from an invite.

In FIBA, you need shooters; something most of our players can't do a lot. Also, you need big men that can shoot consistently and/or will take charges instead of going for blocks.

Guys hate Kobe because he's a ball hog, but he lived his early life in Italy and knows FIBA rules.

In all seriousness, for a FIBA tournament, the best US team would be this...
PG-Kidd,Billups,D Williams,Hinrich
SG-Bryant,Redd,Miller
SF-Prince,Battier,Johnson
PF/C(since they are interchangable in FIBA)-Boozer,Brand,Bosh,Amare,Brad Miller

That team has the skill set for FIBA.

We won't win. Our NBA players don't care about anything but themselves.

The rest of the world has caught us in this sport

I agree with the sentiment that many of our stars do not care about this.

If I was putting a team together I think I would go with:
PG: Kidd, Deron Williams, Billups
SG: Kobe, Ray allen, Arenas
SF: Bron, Rashard Lewis, Redd
PF/C: Bosh, Amare, Marion, Brand, Boozer, J. O Neal

The fact that many players dont even want to compete on the national team disgusts me. Several want to be paid and that's wrong.
