I think we should be in the top three at least.

There are still two more weeks left in the NFL regular season, but barring any major surprises, we’ve seen enough to make a reasoned guess at which head coaching jobs could be in play at the end of the regular season.
Despite disappointing years, we wouldn’t expect the Bucs or Titans to jettison experienced coaches Lovie Smith or Ken Whisenhunt after just one season, while Sean Payton’s prior success in New Orleans should probably be enough to keep him off the chopping block even if the Saints fail to win the lowly NFC South.
So of the potential head coaching vacancies that could arise – some (Oakland, N.Y. Jets) much more certain than others (Carolina, N.Y. Giants) – which jobs would be the most desirable for a head coaching candidate with a plethora of available options?
We’ve ranked those potential offseason openings from least to most desirable.
4) Miami Dolphins
It’s not looking good for current coach Joe Philbin, whose team appears headed for another December in which his team narrowly misses the playoffs. He escaped paying for his failed oversight in the team’s bullying scandal last year, but it would be surprising if he gets another pass, especially with franchise legend Dan Marino now weighing in as a special advisor.
Pros: Miami isn’t the worst place to spend the fall and winter. It won’t be very hard to amp up the intensity in that locker room compared to the present regime. Rick Ross hanging out on the sidelines.
Cons: Pitbull possibly hanging out on the sidelines.
