Heres what they say about Sam Madison:

Setting sun

Miami's Sam Madison lost a step even before losing counterpart Patrick Surtain to Kansas City via free agency. With the injury to young talent Will Poole, Madison, 31, will be more exposed than ever and his sound technique won't be able to make up for the speed he's lost the past two years

and about Pat Surtain:

A notch below

The trade of a second-round draft pick for two-time Pro Bowler Patrick Surtain gives Kansas City defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham ready-made corner-safety chemistry that should upgrade the left side of the league's 32nd-ranked pass defense. Surtain, an eighth-year corner, has exceptional ball skills as his 29 interceptions, including four last season, attest. He's paired with strong safety Sammy Knight, Surtain's teammate for two seasons in Miami.

How come a lot of Miami fans didnt really want Knight back, but to many people outside of Miami, they think Knight was a good pickup for the Chiefs? Is it because KC's D is so awful anyone is an upgrade? or did he just not fit our scheme? or is he just one of those overrated players who gets by on name. I mean Knight was OK for us but nothing more than average. And I also think that Surtain should be ranked up there with the elite corners. But they do give him respect and rank him as the 3rd corner.

But you'll also see knight in the overrated section of Mr. P's list of under\over rated players..so everyone doesn't think he's an upgrade. But the fact that they've played together for the last 2 years does give them instance chemistry on another team.

Sammy is a good ball player, he has great ball skills that you can not teach. He lacks speed, and with our Defense getting older, fans want younger faster guys. I will miss Sammy Knight.

Sammy Knight is awesome is run support and in zone coverage. When he is matched up with someone is the problem with him. Hes really slow and that didnt help us that we play a lot of man to man.

My only complaint with Knight is his speed. I got sick of watching him get beat deep and giving up so many long td receptions. Besides that, I think he has an above average overall game and will be an instant upgrade for K.C.

I don't see how the say Madison has sound technique. If anything I thought Madison has bad technique just amazing ball skills and athletic ability. He jumps routes and takes gambles for turnovers, but isn't the guy who is going to be a foot from his reciever at all times. Thats what I like about him though, hes going to bait the QB into throwing the ball and knows he is athletic enough to make the play. I saw alot of those traits in Surtain too, but he has more "shutdown" type play in him than Sammy.

Our D is still way better than KC's and why keep Surtain and his 9 Mill/year contract when we can re-tool with younger guys.

Yeah thas why people say it was a good pick up for KC. I dont think knight was bad, he was just above average, but he wasnt that good either.

KC had absolutely nothing against the pass last year. Anything is better than what they had. 2 of our 4 is a big step up for that unit.

KC scares the crap out of me this year if they get any defense. Thier O is better than the Colts already...
