I would not get to excited about the US when playing outside of a Fifa date, you and I know that just as US played without their core team, Guatemala played without their core team... And if Guatemala's first team sucks (let's face it, besides Mexico, US, Costa Rica, sometimes Jamaica and Canada and PAnama whenever they catch something that makes them play remotely well) there is no team in the Concacaf that is worth anything, US did not play well and won 4-0, US should by talent level alone win 4-0 every single game (except against mexico, who should win every other game by 4-0 too)....
I'm still worried, about both of them, no manner of excuses will make me feel any better about them. (Im a little more worried for the US because they face the tougher group)
(see this sucks about being a mexican-american, I am supposed to hate at least one of those teams, not like them both)
