In this my 1000 post I would like to show the stats of these 2 players so far:

V. Carey= Has played in 4 games (started in 3) has commited 2 penalties (1 holding, 1 false start) for 15 yards, and has allowed 1 sack (for -5yards).

S. McDougle= Has played in 4 games (started in 1) has commited 3 penalties ( 2 false starts, 1 holding) for 20 yards, and has allowed 2 sacks (for -11 yards).

Seeing this i'm wondering why start McDougle over Carey?
Carey is a 1rst rd player, who we hsave commited a lot of time and money in. He is younger, and is signed for a longer contract.
McDougle is here for onlky one year (unless we re-sign him at the end of the year). Has commited more dumb penalties, and has allowed more sacks.
I know that it has to be because MacDougle can run block better, but is it that much better that we will sacrifice a player who played great in the pre-season and appeared to be doing ok so far? I'm hoping this demotion doesn't affect Carey's psyche. From what I have read his wonderlick score is one of the lowest in the team, and something like this could affect him in a very negative way.

i think carey should start also, but trust saban and huck they know more than we do

Maybe this will motivate Carey to play better ball when he does get in there. Carey will see the field, he has to and will make the most of it. By the end of the year we'll be talking about how we are looking forward to see how good Carey will be next season. He'll be fine, he was hurt last year and he is still very very young.

I hope you are right.

Saban said the Carey is having trouble grasping the techniques that they are teaching...

It's the run blocking. It looks worst than it is if you look at the stats, but you still need to pay some heed to the statistics.

For most of the 3 games that Carey started, Carey played the entire first half and then McDougle came in the second half and played almost the entire half. In those first three games, during the first half, Dolphins running backs ran 28 times for 58 yards. In the first three games during the second half, in which McDougle played RT, Miami RBs ran 38 times for 199 yards. Then, on top of that, without Carey in the lineup at all against the Bills, we tallied 97 yards on 17 carries. Now, some adjustments should be made to that, seeing as how Carey often got placed back in the line-up at LT during those first three games. But, still...no denying that in the second half of games, when Carey plays less and McDougle more, we run better.

As soon as all these V. Carey threads came out...I was waiting and waiting for your review/analysis.

I for one thought that Carey was doing a great job at LT...then he got replaced by D. Mac and was moved to RT...and I also felt that he was doing a decent job at RT as well.

S. McDougle has been penalized a lot. I thought that S. McDougle was not playing that good...and I was seriously confused as to why Carey was losing playing time...and why he did not even play in the game last week.

From what I remember...most of R. Brown's yards came from the left side of the line last week against Buffalo.

Well...basically I was confused and waited for your response.

Finally, CK your resonse has helped...I understand why Stockar is replacing Venron...but I'm still not 100% sold on this being the right move!!!

Go Fins!!!

But with McDougle's performance so far i dont even see how he's being mentioned? Why not go with the young guy you wasted a top 20 draft pick on, he hasn't played as bad as McDougle (not that McDougle has played awful, just not great)

It's the age old carrot game...dangle it to get get results, and take it away when you don't get results.

Or you could just watch Rocky V and see if the final fight at the end is more entertaining than comparing the battle between McDougle and Carey.......

Stockar McDougle was our only major offensive line acquisition to an OL that was the worst unit seen in Miami in decades. The current coaching regime feels far more pressure to put HIM in the line up than some guy the previous coaching regime gave up a 1st and a 4th rounder to draft. They've already dealt with a number of the last coaching staff's mistakes...so there's not any pressure to "get the young guy out there for experience" because they don't really care about Carey. He's got to earn it. I'm not necessarily convinced that Stockar has earned it, but hey whatever.

Ronnie Brown has indeed gotten 99 yards running to the left as opposed to I think 59 yards to the right and like 111 yards up the middle. So, it would be fair to say that the coaches have decided that Damion McIntosh is the guy that needs to be kept in the game because he's the best run blocking tackle we have, while Stockar McDougle is beginning to edge out Carey because of his run blocking skills despite Carey's superior pass protection and Stockar's penchant for penalties. Also remember, like I said, this coaching staff feels more pressure to get McDougle on the field than they do Carey. They signed McDougle thinking he'd nail down the right side...and they've been frustrated with his inability to do that, so they've been looking all along for an excuse to put him back in there to do what he was signed to do and prove they were right.

thhe way i see it...when Stockar was in Brown ran for 5 a carry

Keeping in mind that Brown has run for a 5.2 ypc to the left side, a 4.8 ypc up the middle, and only a 3.1 ypc toward the right side.

Combine that with the knowledge that he gained only 56 yards to the right, while he gained 298 yards during the second halves of the first three games where Stockar came in, plus the Bills game where Stockar played the whole game, and you will see that really Stockar is not very likely having a huge impact on that 5.0 ypc.

yep...this is exactly the way I see it as well.

anyway...i hope the Fins O-line stops these dumb pre snap penalties and they pave the way for a successful run game today at tampa.

we need to be balanced if we want to win today.

Go Fins!!!

well...we played sunday, and lost..had another day of too many penalties (9 plus 3 that were refused). and our o-line was terrible. We need to do something, but the sad thing is that nobody in that o-line looked good.
