I was surprised how poorly Thomas did overall vs the Jets this past Sunday. Seemed as though Carey & Thomas struggled with Shaun Ellis in particular with regards to the pass rush in particular, nevermind the run game. Usually Thomas gets his hands on a guy and the defender is pretty much done. Beating the Jets was nice but hard to feel good about how the offense played overall in the first half....have to play better than that to beat the Pats
Anybody else notice this too?

I hope these guys have a better day against the Pats. Belicheat getting two weeks to prepare for the Dolphins makes me a bit uneasy.

Yea shaun ellis owned donald thomas it was sickening to watch

Thomas has been struggling most of the year, but its his first year starting and you have to expect that... he'll get better and better because he is a brute and he has massive potential...

Not to many guys on NE's defense that scares me, Wilfork and Mayo are beasts but everyone else are nothing special. It's the offense that will be scary for our defense.

Wilfork seems to be getting bigger every year since he was drafted....no weight clause in his contract??? Geez Samson Satele struggled with Wilfork in the past... interesting to see Donal Thomas first match up against him along with Jake Grove. I hope both guys show up big time with a nasty attitude.
Shaun Ellis had a good game I'll give credit there. I think guys are a tad faster on the turn rather than on grass, which I think made a Ellis a bit faster than the last time they faced off on the grass in a warm humid MNF game two weeks earlier.

Donald Thomas has played very poorly this year, and Carey has be one of the better tackles in the league this year.

Vernon Carey played worse than Donald Thomas. And Justin Smiley got blown up a few times and on running plays. Carey struggles on the run when he has to seal a hole. He can turn a guy but can't keep them from pushing him back into the hole or beating him over the top. Donald Thomas actually played alright. But Sean Ellis had his number. Sometimes a guy will just throw the right moves at you at the right time. The one problem Thomas has is that he's a powerful guy an sometimes he is to dramatic with his moves and gets out of position on blocks and throws off timing

Long and Thomas are both run first linemen they both have been weak in pass protection this year.
I dont know exactly how you can say Thomas has looked BAD this year..
he struggled at times but its his 8th game in the NFL he shows brute strength and he has a very nasty streak

I strongly disagree. Grove and Carey have been our best performing linemen. Here is how Pro Football Focus Rates guards and tackles.

On our very last possesion, the 1st and 2nd down plays were runs. In both cases, Thomas allows his man to make the play. The 2nd down play would have been at least a 4 yard play. He fell down on the ground on the 2nd down play, and his man comes all the way accross the formation. Thomas is the worst player on the offensive line by a significant margin.

Actually, Thomas's pass blocking in the Jets game was better than the run blocking. That was very disappointing to see.

yea i noticed that as well but overall for the season he has been strong at run blocking.
The whole O line didnt block anyone vs the jets.
It kind of seems like Thomas is hitting a little wall here.
