Gives some insight into his character and what motivates him. This guy had some major goals for himself going into last season....

"My first goal was to have at least one interception every game, 13 interceptions. The second was to win the Jim Thorpe Award. I became a semifinalist for that. I wanted to average eight tackles per game. Moving from corner to safety boosted me a little bit. I actually averaged 9.5 tackles per game. I met that goal. Another was not to get beat on a deep ball. Another was to cause at least five fumbles. I believe I forced three fumbles. I didn't reach that goal. Another was to strip the ball from the receiver at least five times. I wanted to make at least three big plays per game. I had some big plays during the season, but felt I was capable of making more."

"I said to myself that, if I stay another year, it will give me another year to develop, become a better player, make the guys around me better and become a better leader on and off the field."

I like to see that kind of drive.

I think setting goals for yourself is most important even if you don't reach them it gives you an idea where you need to improve therefore you become a more complete player.

At first i was not too thrilled about drafting a DB in the first round but, after hearing him speak and most importantly hearing SABAN talk about how much he loved him, it was an obvious choice. I mean Saban wanted this guy to go to LSU while he was still in his tenure. This goes back along way. GO SABAN GO ALLEN GO PHINZZZZ

bro ppl that have goals like that have a reason to doing thigns and the thrive for it. Without goals you'd say ok our team will do this but since he is doing it other players will follow his lead. It isn't for HIMSELF but to WIN games and MAKE players and be PRODUCTIVE and great! think man

whew!!!! Dont he look fierce? Im loving this pick more and more.

Hell of an article. I'm VERY impressed with him and see why Saban thought he is worthy of the 16th pick. I love getting great solid players that we can depend on and I think he's one of them.

Hail Saban.
