Justin Smiley, backed into a corner, rocked side to side as he spoke to incoming reporters. The right guard hadn't taken the time to completely dry off, and his shirt was blotchy from the shower he had just taken. The soap during that shower had failed to scrub off the Dolphins' start.
"0-3 is not OK, man," Smiley said. "It's just not."
All around the locker room, proud veterans said the same. Jason Ferguson spoke of the need for greater focus, the absence of which "is killing us right now." Jason Taylor spoke of the need to "flush" the self-pity, because "guys are going to look and see what the leaders do, what the captains, what the veterans do, and see how they react. If we walk around with our lip dragging, then they are going to walk around dragging."
