Vick and Tebow: Tua All Time most accurate college QB

Tebow didn’t say Tua was the most accurate. He was quoted as saying one of, if not the…, providing a valid uncertainty in response yet subjectively correct.

Don’t shoot the messenger. College completion percentage. Their Y/A and Air Yards per Attempt were very similar, whereas Bryce Young’s was garbage in comparison.

Tua
2017 - 63.6%
2018 - 69.0%
2019 - 71.4%
Career = 69.3%

Comp / Attempts /Yards

474 / 684 / 7442

Mac
2018 - 38.5%
2019 - 68.8%
2020 - 77.4%
Career = 74.3%

Comp / Attempts /Yards

413 / 556 / 6126

Solid data there, but there's just one thing....Mac Jones sucks.

And me being the type that can't shut up sometimes once we are talking about interesting stuff, I'd wager Tua's NFL average YPA is approaching double that Jones', without looking it up.

Your attempt at taking another shot a Tua has failed spectacularly.

Accuracy doesn't equate to completions necessarily.

Why?

1) drops
2) easy throws to backs vs tough down field throws
3) I am sure there are more but too lazy to do your work.

**** in one of these 38 Tua topics someone posted stats about most accurate/ catchable balls over 7-9 yards or similar and guess who came out number 1? It wasn't Mac Jones.

This post was to counter the title of the thread is fiat out factually incorrect and misquoted Tebow to boot.

Umm got me confused with someone else. I’ve been on Tua bandwagon through being hurt at college (I’ve had same hip surgery and said he’d be fine by camp), didn’t want Watson even before the allegations came out, and one of first posters to say pay the man $50+M before the last 2 QB deals. It’s only gone up now. Feel free to check my post history.

Edit from my post on another thread from Saturday:

“Grier is going to cave. He’s just being a tool and making Tua wait until just before camp imo.

Sorry the spike in QB market screwed up your cap budget Grier. Should’ve paid Tua instead of only exercising his 5th year option last season and he probably would’ve been happy with $45+M. Suck it up and pay the man his $55+M now.”

Doesn’t change the fact that Jones was more accurate at Bama than Tua in the same offense and throwing the same type and depth routes. Numbers below are per attempt, so I suspect Incompletions and drops are included. Maybe the wind was blowing in Mac’s favor? You can make up whatever you want. It is what it is.

Tua
Yards / Attempt 10.9
Air Yards / Attempt 12.7

Mac
Yards / Attempt 11.0
Air Yards / Attempt 12.5

Btw, above has no bearing on them as professionals, which Mac has proven to be a complete douchebag trying to hurt players on multiple occasions. Tua has handled himself as professionally as can hope.

I agree with you on the last part.

As far as accuracy goes, people like Hill and other players / coaches have stated on many occasions how accurate Tua is. Does he have areas to improve on ? For sure. Accuracy isn't at the top of the list.

Don’t think we’re arguing. My post was aimed at thread title, then I read article. A tweet in the article misquoted Tebow and similarly parroted in thread title.

As mentioned. Tebow actually said one of, if not the… Vick was simply agreeing with Tebow. 1000% agree with both of them.

If the thread incorrectly states Tua is THE most accurate college QB then I gotta check that **** with data. #responsiblefan.

Well, as @JamesWsenior pointed out, you aren’t checking in the right place if you’re looking at completion percentages.

There have been lots of “check down” artists throughout the history of college football probably posting really nice completion numbers.

Right.

QB1 throws a perfect pass, in stride dropped by the WR.
QB2 throws a pass forcing the WR to have to turn around and make a circus catch with one hand.

Which QB was more accurate? Completion% says QB 2. But that's not reality

There's a reason when WRS who talk about Tuas accuracy also talk about how "catchable" the passes are

two of the most inaccurate QBs in the history of the NFL think Tua is the most accurate.... I'd say that's pretty accurate.
I was thinking the same thing.

What's next? Sammie Smith listing which RB fumbles least in the league?

Well, in fairness, those guys should be able to easily recognize players completely on the opposite end of the spectrum as themselves.

Jokes aside, if those guys aren't qualified to recognize who is or who isn't accurate simply because they weren't good at it themselves then how can 99.99% of the members of this board justify their position on the matter? They never played and couldn't do it either.

Can someone also not recognize a strong arm because they didn't have one themselves? How about recognizing someone with incredible hands despite not being able to catch a cold themselves?

Makes no sense.

Everybody seems to be keenly aware how fast Tyreek Hill is despite not being even half as fast.
