Video- what NFL teams love about Jarron Gilbert

As far as I can find out...the Dolphins haven't interviewed him or brought him in.

I could see us taking him at #44- and I could see the Pats taking him before us in the 2nd. Look at his movement- I could see him playing DE, DT in a 3rd down 4-3 package, and I could see him dropping off the line and playing a little OLB, too- look at the guy's movement skills.

I can't see us taking him at #44 for the primary reason being he'll have been taken at least 15 spots above that pick.

The secondary reason being Miami has shown almost zero interest in 3-4 DE prospects in this draft. Getting a NT is not out of the possibility but I don't think it's a top priority, either...but getting a 3-4 DE has been almost a zero priority from what I've seen.

I have to agree CK...I can see a NT...but I don't see a 3-4 end.

Some may say its a reach but I think Gilbert will be our #25 pick.

I'd be thrilled with the player, confused about the position. Taking him at #25 would mean EITHER they see Randy Starks as a NT down the line, OR they see Phil Merling as a SOLB down the line. It's possible, but for now I've not seen Miami have hardly any interest in 3-4 DEs.

If a quality DL is available, as in a true value is available, you take him imo. If Ron Brace and Gilbert were sitting there at #44, even though the need is greater at NT, I'd take Gilbert. And you're right, Gilbert might not be there anyway.

I don't see Gilbert going before the 32nd pick...after that there's plenty of teams changing over for him to go early in the second round.

CK, with his quickness and his size at 6'5", don't you think we could convert him to a NT. He is already 290 I don't think it would be a stretch to get to 320. Is he strong enough at the POA two handle the 2-gap responsibility? He seems to understand leverage as in the video he was able to get his hands underneath the shorter Cs pad level. But this will probably be academic as you say he will probably be gone long before our selection.

To me that's like asking LeBron James to bulk up and be a Center.

Playing nose tackle is just so incredibly different from what he has been his entire college career and what he's excelled at that you're like...why?

You're right. Just my mind randomly thinking.

But understand, I'm not saying he couldn't do it. Just probably not be a star at it, whereas he could be a star doing other things.

I've said this on other threads, but I think Jarron Gilbert is a much better prospect then Tyson Jackson is as a 3-4 DE and every mock I've seen has Jackson going in the 1st round. I think Gilbert should be gone before the end of the 1st round. If I had to guess I will say the Steelers draft him with the last pick in the 1st round.

Could be a smokescreen. The Dolphins might know exactly who they want at DE and have seen enough tape etc.. to not arouse interest by bringing that player in?? They could talk up CBs all day long only to select one or two in the later rounds. I don't take anything away from this team NOT talking about one particular position over another. I believe they are going to go DE/LB with their first pick. I also believe they can trade down a bit to get Michael Johnson or Jarron Gilbert IF they want these two players. I believe their is ample talent at the receiver spot to get one later in the 2nd/3rd--guys like Britt, Robiskie, Iglesias, Barden or Knox. I don't know if any of the receivers chosen in the 1st round will be any better than those chosen later on. We all will know soon enough.
