So they went for VILMA cuz Zach signed with Dallas?

They are SO going to regret that move!

I saw that guy, time and time again, be out of position to make a tackle! When he's in position he's a good tackler! But just like CHANNING CROWDER, more often than not he's over-running the play and ends up being the octopus with all arms trying to slow down a runaway train.

Zach is great because he manages to SQUARE UP on runners, even coming from a side angle! You RARELY see him reaching with his arms, he gets there with his hips and THEN delivers the boom.

Vilma will allow huge holes up the gut on cutback plays there in NO just like he did for the New York JERKS.

Our offense will miss him!

GO PHINS!!

this is all over the net right now
vilma i think is overrated also

Vilma is a true beast i don't think he is over rated at all if he plays on a 4-3.

No GM in their right mind would want Zach over Vilma right now. Vilma might be overrated in a 3-4 but not in a 403. He's a top LB in a 4-3 and the Jets will regret giving him up for virtually nothing.

THis was a safe trade for both parties, it is a conditional pick in '09, meaning it could be as high as a 2nd based on how he performs. He doesnt perform well, 6th or 7th. It is what it is, considering that he is having knee issues, it's a win win for both sides.

Am I missing something?

Is this the same Jonathan Vilma who had 170 tackles in 2005?

Traded for a fourth round pick?

Amazing move for the Saints IMO.

Amazing move for the Saints IMO.

Those 170 tackles he amassed were in a 3-4 defense. The Jets are currently running a 4-3 and he did not have the same impact. I am surprised that it was only a Conditional Fourth round pick because he still is a force. He will be an absolute monster with the NO Saints. I for one am not happy that Vilma went to the Saints because despite being a Jets player, I like him a lot (U fan). I am glad he is out of the division but am not happy he ended up with NO.

Might want to switch that one up, we are running the 3-4 now, he racked up those tackles in the 4-3 system.

He will prosper in the NO system, i wish him luck!

I've read that there is a conditional pick in 09' as well as a solid pick in THIS draft as well. Guessing it's a 4th. If thats the case and the 09' can escalate based on preformance incentives then the Jets made a pretty good deal here.
