According to Rotoworld:

Vince Wilfork- DL-Patriots

Free agent NT Vince Wilfork said Thursday that playing for either Miami or Tampa Bay would be a "dream come true."
Wilfork went to the University of Miami, so playing in Florida would be a homecoming. It's an unlikely scenario, however, as the Pats will slap him with the franchise tag if they can't come to an agreement on a long-term deal.

That would fill a really big need, but if he gets tagged that will basically kill our chances especially since he's on one of our rivals.

I'm not so sure anymore that they will franchise him, he seems like he would be VERY disgruntled with that situation. I do think they (the Pats) will offer him a long term deal which is what he's angling for anyway.

If we could somehow pull this off it would be the biggest FA signing here since Keith Jackson.

IF he isn't tagged by NE he will go to whatever team pays him the most money, it's really that simple.

Agreed, his statement should read; " to play in Florida for 6 years $54 mil. 20 guaranteed, would be a dream come true." Or something along those lines.

He will get tagged. It's not even a question.

That's not what talk radio is saying around here. Well, they don't think he will be back with the Pats anyway. Maybe a tag and trade to a team that will sign him longterm.

He's quoted as saying that would be a slap in the face. It would be pretty strange move to tag your best defensive player thus totally alienating him. How committed would he be to a team that hasn't shown any commitment to him?

Exactly, if he's tagged I think he'll be traded. He won't have to sign the tender until after otc's and that will allow him to sit out without being fined. Plus, he won't be able to explore trades until after he signs it. This could wind up being a long drawn out distraction for the Pats unless they work out a trade early that he agrees to or they let him walk.

Which means he wont be coming to Miami
Not necessarily, if this was a wide receiver or a running back I would agree with you, but Wilfork would be a key cog in the 3-4 defense. No guarantee that Ferguson will be back and even if he did come back, he is not a long term solution. I think Wilfork is a guy this front office would break the bank for.
