Vince Young and Chris Leak in the same class?

Vince Young did well last year. I think being intelligent needs to be stressed more among athletes because they are role models for kids. However a dumb athlete doesn't scare me as long as he is football smart.

Still waiting to see an official story/release on this.

Wow...that is truly pathetic if that is true. I thought Leak would have gotten one of the higher scores of the qb's to be honest. Now he really doesn't have anything going for him, I expected the Wonderlic to help his cause not destroy it.

the wonderlic is worthlesss IMO, the only way to know if a player is good is to get him on the field

i agree with alex44, it is football smarts that matter, and chris leak went and had to learn and run 2 systems in his college career and he won a national championship so he knows something

Ok, I'm going to call B.S. on these so called sources for two reasons.

First, the NFL took the step of securing the Wonderlic results so that only the testing company had initial access to the completed tests and scores. The company is then responsible for reporting the scores directly to the general managers for each respective team. The only way the scores would become known is if someone in a GM's office leaked the scores. I'm not saying it's impossible, but it is definitely suspect.

Second, scoring an 8 on the Wonderlic just doesn't fit what we know of Chris Leak's intelligence. We're talking about a guy who mastered two different offenses in his time at Florida, and has been known as a QB that is very good at reading defenses. Norv Turner praised the kid for being able to pick up a lot of his offense in just a couple of days at the Senior Bowl.

I just don't buy it that Leak couldn't score higher than an 8!

Wasn't Vince Young the rookie of the year? Obviously bombing the wonderlic means nothing about how well you can play.

I think Dan didn't do so well either.

(I am not a Leak to Dolphins supporter in any way however)

:ffic:

I agree.

This guy seems like he just wants to write a bash article. The guy speaks well, and I havnt heard of any scores being released.

Please don't ever post bull**** blogs like that on here again.. I almost went into a coma reading stupid lines about " Almost had time to go to prison in orange and blue " and stupid jabs like that.. a really stupid thing to attack UF for.. AND I GO TO FLORIDA STATE.

Also, he attacks Brandon Warren for being " a mama's boy ".. the kids mother had a relapse in cancer and ALMOST ****ING DIED and he wants to be able to spend every weekend with her, because she really may pass soon, and almost every single person at FSU feels bad for him and says he should be able to go..

Not Bowden and co! How pathetic in my eyes.. Bowden is so charming and charismatic but he's proven to really be a piece of **** when it comes to anything as far as justice/righteousness goes.. Rape a girl? Nah son, we'll let the police deal with those mattahs come play some football for flowidah state..

And most of the draft experts on here will tell you no way Wonderlic scores were already "leak"ed ( har har har ) because the NFL keeps a tight lipped view on those things since last year.. The truth about Chris Leak's intelligence lies in his ability to learn THREE offenses in four years, and flourish in all of them, including Urban Meyer's offense that was run by Alex Smith.. who Chris Leak reminded Urban alot of..

There is zero doubt in my mind that Chris Leak is a student of the game and possesses a better mental grip than 75% of the other QBs in this draft

Seriously...if you have a link to a reputable site and want to post something, that's fine. But to link to some FSU blog that's trashing a UF player with unsubstantiated rumors, that's not adding anything to the forums here.

All said and done, Leak will be a backup his entire career, and should be drafted as such..

I wouldn't mind taking him in the 6th/7th rounds if he is still there.. I think he could have a roster spot on any team in the NFL for a long period of time. New England, Indy, etc are all teams that could spend a 5th/6th round pick on him.. hes intelligent enough to handle the most complicated systems and be a backup when he absolutely has to be..

First of all, the Tallahassee Democrat is a pretty damn reputable site! I don't know who you think made you the thread police or nazi, but, this is a pretty damn valid discussion regardless of who wrote it. If YOU don't like it, then close the thread and move on!

Not accurate...the author was referring to a practice sample of 12 questions that Chris took and he scored 8 OUT OF 12....extrapolated to a standard wonderlic he would be somewhere around 33....the author clearly has an agenda and is irresponsible at best and slanderous at worst by not stating what the sample size of the question-pool was......sickening

this is a quote from a writer/radio host in Central Florida named Heath Cline...

I'm getting a lot of emails on this Chris Leak Wonderlic situation. It's unfortunate he's being portayed around the web as an idiot right now, so I thought I'd post the facts here and then whoever has time to straighten people out on various boards can copy and paste or link it to here.

Here's the response I got back from the gentleman on whose site Leak's reported score of 8 appears when I asked him where it came from...

It is my understanding that this is from the campus agility tests, which I assume is the 2006 pro day on campus. The score was obtained from nfldraftscout.com. I believe the score is probably legit given Leak probably did not prepare for the Wonderlic since he had no real incentive to. I'm sure he will fare better at the combine. I am enclosing the section of his bio where I found the score. Note the 8/12 score means he answered 8 of 12 correctly. This shows much more room for improvement than an 8/30, which would lead one to believe he is simply guessing more or less at random.

~Mac

Agility Tests
Campus: 4.66 in the 40-yard dash…300-pound bench press…Bench presses 225 pounds 10 times…400-pound squat…31-inch vertical jump…9'5" broad jump…4.24 20-yard shuttle…30 3/8-inch arm length…9 3/8-inch hands…Right-handed…8/12 Wonderlic score.

I'm sure Mac didn't intend for Leak to be portrayed negatively, but omitting the fact in his table of scores at www.macmirabile.com/Wonderlic.htm that Leak's score was out of a total of 12 questions has resulted in people drawing unfortunate assumptions. It's unfair to the kid, and I hope people grasp that. The fact Travis mentioned it in his guest segment on my show Friday from Indy as being talked about at the NFL Combine indicates that they likely don't however. Feel free to enlighten them.

End the false reporting please........
