With all the rumours about Orton regarding trade value and contract required, why did we not make a play for Vince Young.

We are looking at, at least a 3rd and a long term contract for someone who blossomed under a pass happy OC and is at best hitting his maximum potential.

VY, who many forget had a QBR of 98.6 last year, 10tds & 3int, just signed a 1yr contract for £5.5m. Dont get me wrong, I would never have signed VY to a multiyear contract, but when weighing up both options, I would much prefer a QB with a far higher ceiling signed to 1yr contract, with no loss in picks, as opposed to a Orton on multiyear contract and losing a 3rd.

I know for one, Ryan & Bill would have to gameplan far more for VY & Bush as opposed to Henne/Orton & Bush.

Ummmm he signed with Philly! But in other news we beat the Russians to the moon.
 
As shown by his signing Vince is happy to be a backup - do not want that attitude on my team!
 
Dumbest post ever. Dude has already signed to be vicks backup.
 
Its not a dumb post! He is just asking why we did not make a play for him as are a million other dolfans ou there. VY should have been looked at by the Dolphins. The headaches in game planning for Young and Bush would have been endless.

You do not know he was not 'looked' at and as I said he obviously is not to interested in being a starter in this league! He is happy to sit behind Vick on the 'dream team.'

The OP is saying, WHY DIDN'T WE go after Vince Young instead of Orton?

I'm by no means a fan of VY, Andyahs and Vaark both summed it up as well as possible.
But the OP brings up a good point.
Why waste a longer contract and draft picks on Orton, when you get a QB for 1 year and no loss of draft picks?

I mean who would you guys rather prefer..... Vince Young or Matt Moore??

Either way, it doesn't really matter because VY is an Eagle and we got Matty "cold as ice" Moore.
What's done is done, but i'm only ranting/posting to defend the OP and tell all the people that didn't read or comprehend the OP to cool off
 
I doubt he was looked at and I do not agree that he is happy being a backup. I think he signed with the Eagles as they were the first ones who came knocking. Not to mention they have a championship caliber team.

Don't worry we may still have our chance to make the Vince Young mistake. Once Andy Reid sees how little Young puts into being an actual NFL QB then Young probably won't make it through their camp. He'll be in the first round of cuts.

From what I understand it's pretty well known in league circles just how little ol' VY puts into being an NFL QB. He doesn't study playbooks or work at the mechanics part of it. Of all the things we need here, that type of person is NOT one of them.
 
I'm not high on VY at all......

I would rather re-sign Pat White, Ray Lucas, and Cleo Lemon......
