I agree. But he still avoided contact his whole career. Understandable for a guy as fragile as he's been. But it's not that big of a problem. His dancing is his biggest problem imo. That's what always pissed me off the most about him.

He was best on the fast hit blast though a hole and then jets to the end zone. Dancing , hesitating yea I saw that also.

Just for reference and to get my posts up, Gates was 13th in the NFL with 24.8 yard average on kickoffs. Bess was 5th in the NFL with 11.9 yard average on punts.

Thats because Gates took every kick 5 yards deep in the end zone and made it out to the 19. He had no judgement back there and had some terrible decisions. As far as Bess as punt returner I know the old coaches used him there because they felt he made good decisions as when to make a fair catch and when to run. He also was reliable catching and not fumbling.

Theres more to it than numbers.

Gates got better as the season progressed and almost broke a couple but your right about the judgement. Bess was Bess. Sure hands. Not really a break away threat. Same as at wide reciever.

Miller should be a great player for us. He's so happy to be a Dolphin. We know him, and his biggest fear was having to go play for a team out west. He wanted to stay close to home, and now Miami is his permanent home-- he'll do his best to make sure he stays here.
