Dolphins DE Vonnie Holliday is reportedly in danger of being a cap casualty this offseason.
Holliday holds a $5.75M cap number. He contributed only 3.5 sacks in 2008, but the Dolphins' defense doesn't ask ends to penetrate as often as most schemes. We're betting Holliday returns, but he may need to take a pay cut.

The Dolphins are not expected to make any moves at QB this offseason, aside from a possible trade of John Beck.
Miami shopped Beck last offseason, but asked for a fourth-round pick and got no takers. Beck will likely remain the Dolphins' third QB in 2009 with Chad Pennington safely ahead of Chad Henne, at least to open the season.

Dolphins signed FB Lex Hilliard, OLB Tearrius George, DL Joe Cohen, WR Todd Lowber, WR Anthony Armstrong, DB Scorpio Babers, CB Will Billingsley, and FB Chris Brown to reserve/future contracts.
Most of these players spent 2008 on the practice squad. Hilliard, last year's sixth-round pick, offers little speed and probably doesn't have a future in the NFL. Lowber isn't the answer for Miami's problems at wideout.

Well the news came from Omar Kelly who I think is one of the worst Dolphins writers. He gets everything from names to stats mix up. I think Beck will be cut, if the rumors are true that the Tuna is interested in White. You could go into the season with your Two Qbs Pennington and Henne. Beck's roster spot can be used on White who will be declared a WR.

They'll take anything at a certain point. The Cowboys should be interested since they have an old man backing up Romo. We'll end up taking a 7th.

Pat White? and at what pick...?

No higher than 4th I hope.

 But he's a fine young QB. There are people on this site that tell me so. How can all these NFL GMs just fail to see this kids overflowing talent?

Pat White would give our offense yet another weapon in the wildcat and may develop into a solid WR who knows

Normally WR's or others skilled poistion guys that have QB backgrounds are your 4th string unbelieveably desperate backups. A third stringer actually needs reps with the practise squad. White will need all the reps he can get at WR let alone worrying about a position he would likely never play.

Trading Beck a 3rd string QB is important only if we bring in a true project QB or a vet. I see no value in trading Beck if you think your only getting a 6th or 7th rounder for him, there's more value in having him around knowing the system and learning from Pennington.

I see White kind of like a new-age, more athletic Jim Jensen. Other than complete disregard for his own well being, Crash was a roster multiplyer. If you've got a guy that can play ST at a high level, and, fill in servicably, if not spectacularaly at QB, WR, H Back, among others, that allows a great deal more flexibility with your roster.

Pat White will be drafted in the 3rd to 4th round. There is precident for athletic QB's to go around there. Both Michael Robinson and Eric Crouch where taken around the 100th pick in the draft. White will blow thier combine #'s out of the water.

White will be a wasted pick that early in the draft.

only problem with that is that Beck's roster spot is as the 3rd QB. If they were to use White as you say, that would mean one less active spot at another position. If White were 'active' as the 3rd QB, if he entered the game, even as a WR, neither of the 1st 2 QB's could re-enter the game until the 4th quarter.

I have no idea what your on about. Could you explain this? It sounds very interesting.

I had no idea there were rules like this...

Nice catch on that one Burger. I hadn't even realized that.

Well noone thought BP could get a 2nd for JT and he got it, granted there was a bit of good luck involved but I would not discount him getting a 4th for Beck. BP does have a knack at getting what he wants.
