DAVIE — Chad Pennington in a Miami Dolphin jersey?

It could be a distinct possibility now that the New York Jets have released the quarterback following their acquisition late Wednesday of Brett Favre. Several media outlets have reported that the Dolphins have contacted Pennington’s agent, Tom Condon.

“You know what, I hope he comes in here and has an unbelievable workout,” Dolphins defensive end Vonnie Holliday said. “If he can come in and help us, then so be it. … I know this about him, what I’ve heard about him is he’s a great leader in that locker room and I know he’s a competitor.

“He has some experience under his belt. He’s a guy that, if he can come in and help us out in some way, I’m all for it.”

Holliday’s enthusiasm wasn’t exactly shared by Dolphins coach Tony Sparano. Though he was complimentary of Pennington, Sparano has not had any direct dealings with the quarterback, who was selected by the Jets with the No. 18 overall pick in the 2000 NFL Draft.

Outspoken DE Vonnie Holliday is all for Chad Pennington coming to Miam. Who can blame him our QB have not been impressing at all, and it scares me the entusiasm Holliday shows about the move. It mean clearly McCown or Beck have not impressed. Im sure Ferguson and Sean Ryan who both played with Pennington would welcome him, and half of Miami's veterans as well.

Well, that's a great sign if you're John Beck, Chad Henne or Josh McCown when your own players want you benched in favor of a free agent.

well thats good to hear, hope all the dolphins players feel the same way (about wanting Pennington, not Benching josh or john)

Well it should drive the level of competation up, exactly what they need for Saturdays game, but it also shows you that our Qbs have failed to impress. The only one who has impressed is Henne and that is because he has looked better then two veteran QBs.

yea hopefully its to motivate the QBs so they can be like o **** lets get our game going already.

Vonnie is always talking. He must sleep with a mic strapped to him or an ap reporter in his jock.

Vonnie Holliday should stick to defensive end and leave the personnel management to Jeff Ireland.
Seriously.

When you have members of a team supporting a possible free agent something is wrong internally. Let Chad come in and help win a few this year. If he flops he teaches the kid, if he does well we play another year or trade him for some help in other ares,,,its a win win scenerio for the kid.

i agree. when youre saying that you want to bring in a free agent QB and start, thats disrespect to the other QBs. He should just shut up and focus on D.

I wonder how many of you on here would tell vonnie he should shut up? Get some respect.

Isn't Vonnie also the same guy that said Henne impresses him for a rookie? I guess Henne don't impress him that much if he wants chad.. I think Vonnie talks too much he should worry about the defense!!

That does not matter , he could be referring to the other two QBs who have not impreesed at all.

I think Vonnie should definately worry about the defense....if Merling turns into what we're all hoping for...I think Vonnie is unemployed next yr.
