I am so glad that Vonnie's so called "roughing the passer" penaly that took an INT away from us did not cost us. That was a terrible call against the D. I am so tired of having take-aways "taken away" from us because of defensive penalties. At least this one did not cost us.

Great win! I am still in shock...

I dont see why they called that on him, it was a clean hit on cassel, I seen edwards on buffalo take the same shot against oakland without a call today

We got a pretty questionable call too though, with Cassel being called down. No side was favored more than the other, Miami kept up their intensity and outplayed/outcoached the Patriots.

I think it was Joey Porter. But I hear ya.

No...it was Holiday. Porter was complaining to the refs as they were huddling, deciding how to screw the fins, but the hit was made by Holiday.

That was a BS call no doubt, but i think the refs had to do it b/c of the sack that Landford had earlier when they said Cassel was wrapped up, but he broke loose for a TD run.

We got away with a non sack that was called a sack. Cassel was not in the grasp long enough to be a sack, quick whistle. So, the two plays equalize.

I absolutly understand why they called it on him. He drove cassle to the ground. Agree with it or not players are expected to pull back when they get ahold of a QB. vonnied slammed him full and complete. hit him, grabbed on, lifted him, and then full force drove him like a hammer on a nail. Penality or not it was great. Not dirty either just pure grace and a picture perfect tackle that Im sure was in Cassel's head for the rest of the game. I get why he got called and will gladly take that one.

vonnie hit him in perfect sync of cassel throwin the ball. How is he "expected to pull back" or let up at that point? He can't stop on a dime. And last time i checked, this is football right, and not figure skating?

OK...both times they are OVER protecting the QB. Cassel was close to being in the grasp, but he would not have scored...the D stopped when the whistle blew.

The roughing call was BS (even if it was a "make up" call...I'm bitter because we never seem to get "make up" calls"). There was no way that Vonnie could have stopped his forward motion.

Soooooo....my issue is this. On one end, you blow the whistle too quickly and the Pats fans boooo. The next play...you don't give a defender a chance to stop his progress. It seems like the refs are sending signals to the defense that no matter what you do...it may be wrong.

Agreed. Cassels arm was still above his head when Vonnie hit him...how do you stop if you are a defender?

I don't think he drove him into the ground. I think it was continuation of his momentum.

He did drive his shoulder into the ground but if it was any other team than the Patriots it would've been a no call.

I stand corrected.

At first I thought it was Porter because of the way he was protesting. The replay showed in was Holiday.

Maybe Porter could have held up at the end, but Holiday has a lot of weight moving in one direction! :-)
