Vontae Davis wants Bowles to stay in Miami

In an unrelated note, the NFL network is reporting the Dolphins are interested in Cincinnati Bengals defensive backs coach Kevin Coyle for the defensive coordinator opening. That would likely leave interim coach Todd Bowles on the outside.

Davis said he would be unfortunate if Bowles didn’t remain on the staff.

“I’m a totally different player because of coach Bowles helping me,” Davis said. “He helped me and Sean Smith become better players. If coach Bowles is anywhere in the building, I’m going to be a happy guy.”

I have mixed feeling about Bowles and would not be upset if he left but on another note I would be surprised if Mike Brown allowed Coyle to leave.
 
Nothing against Bowles, but an argument can be made that Coyle got more out of his DB's than Bowles. I cannot say that I have seen a ton of improvement with Smith.
 
Bowles has other oppurtunities

Honestly, I am not sure I want a first time dc with an offensive guy like Philbin as head coach. Its a risk. Coyle is as well

I would love to get a respected veteran dc in
 
Bowles certainly has the respect of many defensive players.
 
Id like to keep Bowles for continuity on D but change can be a good thing to. I don't know much about the Cincy coach we want to bring in, but im guess we switch to a 4-3 with him. That's one thing that I would want to avoid.
 
When Vontae becomes the GM he can decide who the DC will be.

It would definitely be tough to get the Bengals to let Coyle leave. They denied the Eagles last year when they wanted to speak to him about their DC job. Plus, say Zimmer lands the Buccaneers job, Coyle instantly becomes the in-house favorite for the Bengals DC job.

Interesting. Andy Reid was interested in Coyle? That is high praise.
 
I would like to see Bowles stay.

I think he's done very well in his time here in Miami.

They were very good in 2008, solid in 2009 & 2010, had one horrible year this past season.

Some question if Jones should have been starting at FS, he was a liability most the year in coverage.

What I have seen out of Davis, Allen, Goodman, and (at times) Smith has been good play.
 
I would like to see Bowles stay, but of course it is up to the coach. Bowles will have to accept his role.
I am sure Philbin wants to have "his" guys that are loyal to him.
One issue with Bowles is that the team may turn to him out of familiarity, marginalizing the new coach.
There cannot be any doubt who is in charge, so that might be the mindset for the change.
