i think he will too...i also think Sean Smith will become a good one for us also...
 
Agreed. He has all the physical skills necessary. I think Smith will be a solid corner too but nothing special. He's just not physical enough. VD could be special in a couple years.
 
Well said, I think both Vontae Davis and Sean Smith are going to be a great cornerback tandem for the present and future of this team.
 
we should hire Wandstedt to draft that 3rd CB while ignoring all other team needs

I loved when Steve Smith was getting in his face and Vontae didn't back down one bit. I didn't love the part so much where he caught the TD .. but Vontae was very close, I think he just didn't turn around quick enough, if he did, he potentially could have had a pick

He was in good position and turned to find the ball. He just misplayed the ball in the air.

It is well known that Steve Smith is one of the best ball tracking WRs in the NFL. For Smith to only do what he did should show how good he is.

One thing my defensive coach in high school always said was that they are going to make some plays... its not how you let it happen but how you respond... I think he responded just fine!
 
On the Steve Smith TD, Delhomme slightly under-threw the ball. Vontae was in the right position IMO and Steve had the obvious advantage of tracking a ball being thrown to him... Vontae and Sean both tracked the receivers well and made plays when they needed to. I can't count how many times I saw Smith get in on tackle where he started on the other side of the field.
 
Vontae and the safteys played well with chemistry first time ive seen this year...
Hella good job takin Potential HOF WR out of his game..


say what u will about Steve Smith ,I wish he was on our team..ultimate team player..
He reminds me of OJ McDuffie on roids
 
Vontae is the first cb, other than winfield from the vikings, that can run like a corner but hit like a safety. The dude can tackle a guy in front of him like a stud. His tackeling fundamentals are VERY good for being a rookie.
