He is a fierce special teams tackler.....always around the ball and usually makes the tackle with a viscious hit. After a slow start to the preseason I can definitely see his confidence growing. That boy can definitely lay a lick on the ball carrier. I can see alot of potential and why he was our #1 pick. He sure looked good from my perspective in section 131 row 13 today!!!!!! :hi5:

That Was A Nice Hit He Put On That Jet Receiver, Hope He Does That Next Week Against The Pats.
 
Vontae may be struggling in coverage but it's not all his fault. He saved a TD in the Saints game last week and has been quietly making big hits and plays all over the field. Keep it up Vontae, you've got a home in Miami.
 
this guy is awesome, he made an int today that didnt really count cause it was on 2 pt conversion, hes hits are impressing me. This guy is gunna be something special. Now if only we could replace smith....
 
I have been very impressed with how quick he is picking it up not really seeing a lot of action the first couple of weeks and now he is in the starting role.
 
This guy is not a great tackler but he is also developing into a very realible corner for the future.

Give Smith some time to develop. Remember he is forced into the fire because of our lack of depth at DB. He is a nicely sized back with good hands who is raw......just wait. Remember in the preseason all of the Vontae is a bust threads? Patience, patience.....:hi5:
 
well u see, smith has yet to show anything at all..... like literally nothing....vontae while ****in up today on a few passes, showed us hes hitting ability.
 
Smith and Davis will both be very good DB. Everyone seems to forget that they are rookies. Not going up against easy recievers in Jericho or Braylon either.
 
how can u say smith is going to be good when he doesnt even know to look back on passes when covering a receiver? i mean really, im sure he played college ball so hes not exactly a rookie... srly he showed nuttin today.
 
Vontae had some great tackles today, and that play in the endzone to stop the two point convert was nice.

Show anything at all? Have you seen any Dolphin's games this season? Smith has actually made some very good plays. I agree that tonight's game didn't go very well for him, but he has definitely showed some sparks this season. They're both rookies playing what can be considered one of the most difficult positions in football, give them time.

What a shame too, I won't be able to see you eat your crow when Smith starts making some crazy plays, unless you just leave like many seem to do when they find out they're wrong.
 
He impressed me today.. I really think if he continues to work on his coverage skills he will turn into a great corner...

Then again he took a gamble today and completely whiffed, giving up a huge play that should have been only a short gain, bad instincts on that one.

The kid is a freaking rookie though, give him some time to learn the NFL game and I really think we got a STEAL for getting him so late in the 1'st, he will turn into a top 10 corner.

How many games have you watched this year? Obviously none considering Smith has looked pretty good this year.
