Vontea Davis DROY???

DROY, Davis's first step on his way to the Hall of Fame. Nice,but Curry may beg to differ.

IMO, Vontae IS, going to be a great one whether he breaks out right away or not.

It's called, "the right stuff" and he has it.
 
whoever wins the starting gig opposite will allen will be tested early and often... if it ends up being vontae, and he's opportunistic enough, i could see him pick a few balls and contend for the DROY award...

with all that being said, there's a big "IF" vontae is our starting opposite corner...
 
I'm not going to agree to any of this nonsense until I see him play a few meaningful games against good competition.

I will however point to some positives that will contribute to him become a great player:

He's very smart (high wonderlic)
He is big, strong and fast
Great coaching staff
Great mentor in veteran CB Will Allen

If Vontae steps up and gives this opportunity 100% I think he could be one of the next great Cornerbacks in the NFL.
 
I think Davis will be lucky to be DROY on OUR team. Sean Smith may beat him out. I do think Davis will be a solid corner for us but I can't put him as defensive rookie of the year until I see if he beats Sean out for starting RCB. As I see it right now if it comes down to a tie in camp then Smith gets the nod because he can match up sizewize with some of the taller WRs in our division.; JMO. Either way I think both will see the field quite often.
 
I like Jenkings, Louis Delmas, and Curry to have great rookie years too....Raji came off my list when I learned that theyre changing the D in GB....Orapko may be a guy to watch as well....

Whos says Smith is our starting CB..just because he was running with first team doesnt mean squat in OTA's..but we'll see in TC
 
Just looked it up since 1976 (the year before AJ Duhe won DROY) only two corners have won the award and only 6 alltime.

Dale Carter in 1992

Charles Woodson in 1998

So odds are against a corner.
 
What the hell is this guy saying
 Vontea Davis is freaking great. This year might not be the best only because he is a rookie. Did any of guys see him play in college that boy is quick. It is always like he is 20 ft away from the player attented to catch the ball and somehow he gets there and either catch it himself or throws it down.
 
The trend the last 10 years says it will be a linebacker or defensive end.
