The media sucks. Saban tried to execute is plan, then realized that maybe he made a mistake going to the NFL. Then a dream job turned up. The media pretty much piles it on. They insult him for being dumb, getting too much control, blah, blah, blah. If I were him, I'd tell the media to bite me.

Kevin Carter was interviewed on NFL Network today. He had a great perspective on the "lie". Pretty much he thought that Saban wanted some space and really didn't know what he wanted to do. If fact, at a point, Saban must have truthfully said he did not want the position, since it was offered to the West Virginia coach. Saban kept saying he wanted to talk about the MIAMI DOLPHINS during press conferences, then after he got sick and tired of the questioning, he finally said "no, i'm not going to be the Alabama coach". At that point, he may not have had much interest, but didn't want to close the door. Why would he want to say anything about this at that point in the season and be THE issue, instead of the focusing on the TEAM.

I feel the quality and value of the media is high about 10% of the time. First amendment rights notwithstanding, THEY STILL SUCK (and that's MY first amendment right).

He wanted it all along. And the media did their jobs and drilled him on it.

I with you on this Muck. He lied. Pure and simple. He could have said any number of things, but he said he was not going to Alabama. Period. Then he did. That makes his statement a lie.

Even if this is not the case, I still fault Saban for this mess. He had 3 options, and he did neither.

1-State from the start that he is a Phin. He didnt do this untill just a short time ago, and then didnt hold to it. After letting the rumors burn, you cant put them out with a bucktfull of water. Nicks refusal to speak just indicated he might not be as truthfull as he made himself out to be.
2-State he is a Phin for now, but will seriously consider the Bama job for financial reasons. Instead he commited to nothing, hiding everything up his sleeve, and leaving the Phins totally in the lurch.
3-Just come out and say he is going to take the Bama job at the end of the season.

But Saban went option 4, the worst one. Which was to hem and haw until the media really started grilling him. Then a short denial, then silence. To me, that silence was deafening.

I cant fault Saban for WHAT he did. But I sure as hell can (and do) despise the way he went about it. He led us on and on and then jabbed in the knife. At least he didnt wait around for another few weeks and blow any shot we have at getting a real NFL coach.

He should have come up with his rule about a month earlier than he did. The one where he said I am not going to talk about this now, not 5 years from now, blah, blah, blah. then he wouldn't have lied to everybody. The way he went about this whole thing, the media has every right to slam him.

forget this i want a hard tuff coach just like cower nick is too soft and is too safe during the game.

He still lied and is no better then a piece of garbage in my mind.

Exactly, and you know the media is loving this. They were right all along, and had good reason to question him. He passed on his resignation press conference today becuase he knew that the press would be all over his arse. And he did exactly what he has been doing, went silent and hid...or faked a phone convo and peaced. had nothing to say to the fans of miami, nothing at all.

Move on fans. Wayne H did. That's why people rise to the position he is in. He has class and deals with adversity appropriately. All the media does is ride the wave of firestorm and really don't contribute much at all.

I have to admit that I'm pretty disappointed in how Nick handled all this. He could have said "no comment" all along and then have a short press conf. before he left to thank his players, ownership, and the fans for the time he was here. Instead, he lied, got indignant and then ran without a word to the the fans or the team (for the most part). Shows a real lack of professionalism on his part and his "me first" attitude. Good-bye to him and let's close the book on this nightmare. Let's find a QUALITY coach this time who is the REAL DEAL and will work on a real plan for winning games.
