Look, I for one would have loved to have had Peyton Manning running our offense again. Would have made our team relevant again for sure. I do recall though way before Manning even hit the scene that alot of people (Not all mind you) were happy with the possibibility of getting a guy like Flynn...That thought process increased further when Philbin came on board.. Now all of a sudden we have a QB who everybody was talking about as the QB star in this years FA market (NFL pundits included), coming to our team and simply sliding into a system he is so familiar with. Fast forward to present day and now the thought of signing Flynn is horrendous? Tell me how? I am even not too concerned with the Marshall trade. The offense we are going to utilize does not need to have a 1000 yd WR !!! Get Flynn, get Winston, get Nelson....trade back into the 1st round and pick up an additional second round pick. Draft best WR on board and then double up on pass rushers in the second. No way you can tell me that this team would not be better than last year. No Way !!! Just my two cents....

everyone actually took at step back and realized flynn may not a legit franchise qb. there is more cons than pros when it comes to flynn

I was ok with flynn if we drafted blackmon along with marshall on our team. Now we need a wr and peyton manning. Im sorry but flynn had jennings, driver, jones, and finley. We aren't the packers and even henne could throw five touchdowns a game with that.

And also. There's not a GM or analyst in the league that believe we got a fair deal on the Marshall trade. We dumped him off for practically nothing. If there's not an underlying reason for this trade, than once again the dolphins front office has proven to be one of the worst in the league. It's embarrassing.

Short sighted fans just wanting to see star power and big names (ala Ross). I totally agree with your post. Manning is THIRTY SIX years old and has major health concerns. I'm gonna laugh my ass off when someone mortgages the franchise to sign him and he can't even play. The moral of the story though, is that we have several holes. We sign Manning, we can't afford to fill any of the others. Trading down in the 1st would be best case scenario, drafting a #1 WR, at least one pass rusher and another position you don't fill in FA. Sign Flynn and Winston, perhaps Reggie Nelson. Use those crappy 3rd rounders we got for Marshall to grab OL/NT (where you're SUPPOSED to draft linemen).

Perhaps if got appropriate value for Marshall people wouldn't be so up in arms...

To me it seems like a salary dump to immediately free cap space for whomever Manning wants to bring along. Any other scenario makes little sense, we should have gotten more in the trade.

Almost agreed with everything you said....except....this offense not needing a 1000 yard receiver. It may not need Brandon Marshall to be it's 1000 yard reciever but it needs a 1000 yard receiver. Which successful WCO can you name that didn't have a 1000 yard receiver? San Fran had them back in the day (Rice, Owens, John Taylor), Green Bay has always had one (Sharpe, Driver, Jennings), Texans have had one (Andre Johnson) and the Eagles offense didn't take off until they got that first one (Owens...now DeSean Jackson). Only Cleveland doesn't have a 1000 yard receiver in their WCO and it shows...but everyone seems to be squarely putting the blame of the offense on Colt McCoy.

I am telling you it wouldn't be better than last year. We lost our best offensive player/only real receiver besides Bess.

I hope this is move that Philbin endorsed, because if this is another one of Irish's "awesome" moves with no foresight whatsoever then it just creates another hole...for how many years were we crying and whining for a #1 receiver? just to turn around and trade him AFTER he made a Pro Bowl, and get peanuts in return. Seems like Irish did no shopping, just placating Marshall by sending him to the Bears, they had all the leverage despite being desperate for a #1 WR as well...as long as this clown is making personnel decisions I fear we will continue to be mediocre...SMH
