Nub,i agree with everything you said here;as much as i like Favre as a QB,and he does now own the NFL record book, along with a SB ring,we are building for the future, not a quick fix, which means i don't want a man knocking on 40 being our QB. we have our QBs,it's time for one of them to step up now.I will just the reasons for the answer "NO".
1. He is currently retired and despite rumors he has an "itch" to return, he is likely to stay retired.
2. He is property of the Packers, and if he were to return, Green Bay would want compensation.
3. Favre would be 38 when the season starts(39 in October). Even if he would return(unlikely) and Miami would give up compensation(also unlikely), he would likely only play the 08' season.
4. Would Favre really unretire to play for a team coming off a 1-15 season? Like Jason Taylor, he would probably want to play for a team that is closer to winning it all.
5. We are already set at quarterback with the trio of Beck, McCown and Henne.
6. The mentality of Parcells/Sparano/Ireland is to build this team for the long term and not to try the quick fix. Favre would be an attempt at a quick fix and would hinder the development of the likely QB of the future(Beck or Henne).

No we need to rebuild this year, but we can sign the girl in yer avatar?
that goes against the report of steve mauriuci(sp) saying that farve told him in a phne convo that farve has not been working out and this would be the time he starts working out if he were to come back. this is why i dislike the media(1200 reports saying 1200 dif things). now im not saying what you are reporting is wrong but could staying in shape just plain meen eating right and staying active or actually working out in case he decides to play again. it's hard to know who to believe even when it comes to our own orginization(ireland stating the rest of our draft picks would be signed by the first).Just to be the devil's advocate...
"Appearing on Milwaukee TV stations late Wednesday, Brett Favre's family members said Favre is staying in shape but indicated he no longer feels wanted by Packers GM Ted Thompson.
Scott Favre put his brother's chances of returning at 50-50. "We know he can still play, he's healthy, so, if he did, it wouldn't surprise me." Favre's mother, Bonita, says her son hasn't felt wanted by Thompson "for the last couple of years." Favre never formally filed for retirement. The Packers must keep, release, or trade Favre if he requests to be taken off the reserve/retired list."

i say just leave the man alone and let him enjoy the rest of his healthy life and the things he has already acomplished.
