Wake has looked VG but, at LDE not LB. I'm thinking he may stay there this season, adding to a strength, and subtracting from a weekness.

Thoughts?

Umm no. You have to be at least 285-290 pounds to be a two-gap DE in a 3-4 defense.

We are playing in a 3-4, not a 4-3.

As said already, I don't think he'd hold up at the point of attack well enough, plus his biggest asset is his spead and he can exploit that best when he can move around and get better match-ups and make different looks.

Well he AT THE MOMENT is a straight forward speed pass rusher....he coverage skills are still being developed so putting him at end may make since so he can just pin his ears back set the corner and try to get pressure....the less guys you have to use to get pressure the better.

This coaching staff has made alot of good decisions thus far if they think Wake is best a DE for now then i say go for it.

there will be times when they line up JP//JT on the line.. and play like its a 4-3 front. i dont see why Cameron Wake wont get a few plays there this year

All because he comes up on the line means nothing. They still keep the 3-4 three d-lineman front.

If you notice they come up to the line to pass rush even with a 3-4 defensive front.

I think want the poster has been watching is Miami's pass rush package where they go with a 4-3 look with Starks and Merling at the tackles and two backers at the ends (Porter and Taylor or Wake and Anderson).

Belichick is even using some 4 3 so why not.

Wake is built for and has the perfect attributes for a OLB in a 3-4... It is about catching his head up to his physical tools... and maybe he never does but I have certainly liked him so far... the truth is I still have not seen him used WITH the JP/JT tandem... In my mind that is when it gets exciting...

People need to understand that a great benefit a 3-4 defense has is it's ability to disguise.

Here is a game last year against the Jets. You still see the big 3 D-linemen with Roth and Porter at the line on the edges. All because they are lined up there doesn't mean that they will pass rush. They drop back often. But they line up there quite a bit. The responsibilities are a lot different for an OLB on a 3-4 and a 4-3, and the responsibilities are very different for a OLB in a 3-4 and a DE in a 3-4.

Come on guys, this is very basic stuff.

hell be in situational plays probably at end on 4-3 looks this year... i dont see him getting olb time yet

I like the image about the 3-4 front -- but couldn't notice the fact that the friggin' play clock is at ZERO, and I don't think Favre got called for that.

I should have been more clear. I was referring to a 4 man line in passing situations, which is what Wake has been doing in the two PS games, and looking DAMN good in doing so.

Yes it was, with Wake at LDE. I have not seen him at LB or dropping in coverage.
