Wake invisible again

What a shocker. There have been way too may games this season where he has been a complete non-factor. Age is definitely catching up to him.

No pass rush AT ALL for at least 3 weeks now....its frustrating.

again being the word

Wake is poor vs. running game and he has done nothing in the pass rush department. He is pretty much a useless commodity at this point.

There has to be more than one threat for a player to excel all of the time. If the team had a linebacker threat or even another lineman then he would be more consistent. This team lacks play makers big time and does not have the coaches to scheme and game plan to their strengths. I do believe wake isn't in his prime but how long have we had to compliment his style of play....how many years does it take a coaching staff and general manager to get together, recognize the strengths of the team and say...hmmm i think we need to build on this.

He needs to be traded. Playmakers don't go this long being ineffective. He's just a slightly above average player, nothing more.

Thats going to happen when a team can double Wake every play and nobody else on the D-line can even come close to making them pay.

Said this last week, even in a win and the wake fanboys got catty lol.
Suggs makes 5 million less a year, and makes more plays - even granted he had some injuries this year as well.

At this point in his career Wake is nothing but a 3rd down pass rush specialist being pressed into 3 down duty.

It's beyond obvious.

One thing that i have to say is....it seems like wake gets held all the time and it barely gets called. I see guys with their arm hooked around his neck, grabbing the shoulder pads etc....i usually point out like 3 or 4 times a game minimum where holding should be called.

I've said this a few time and have gotten hammered. Wake is a beast, a hell of a player, but .... his full time effectiveness has slipped to a level he will not recover from.
It's not his fault, it's mortality. He works hard. He has that fire in his belly and he leads by example.
He's been a real asset to this organization and he's earned and deserves the fans' and fellow players' respect and admiration.
He's a good dude, but ... he's gotten older.
It's a fact of life.
I'm not sure he would get us a worthy enough draft pick, but I believe we need to begin game planning less time for him in order to get others more playing time, and look for his replacement this off season.
Occasionally be displays that burst that has make him a nightmare for all these years, but they are fewer and farther between week after week.

The difference in this game is they put pressure on our QB and we didn't put pressure on theirs. The one time we pressured Flacco, he threw that horrible interception in the RZ. Their defense is just way more physical than ours. Hard to win that way.

Wake had the big sack that set us up for a great FG drive. I mean, had we scored a TD there we'd say it was all because of the big sack.
