Walker: Resigning Safety Clemons "isn't a priority"

As it should be. Clemmons can be replaced but does deserve a reasonable contract. I would offer a two year contract worth about 5m.

Good, steady football player. Get me Calvin Pryor and it is an upgrade. The rest of the FS FA's are awful. Promote Wilson from within before looking at the FS FA's.

I wonder how many of the "old guard" Joe tries to jettison? It is his team now and his job to win with it.

I would sign him for a reasonable price, but with the lack of talent available in FA, he may get a good offer. If he does, let him walk.
I would love to have a safety like Seattle's Chancellor back there...bringing the wood on every play.
Clemons used to make hits like that, not any more. He cannot force a fumble.

Clemons did not make a lot of plays, but he rarely ****ed up. That is a positive trait.

We should sign him to a short contract and draft his replacement.

Chris Clemons 2 year $6 million > Jarius Byrd 5 year $40 million

Give Clemmons a 1yr deal and draft someone this year to replace him. He's a solid player that won't get much interest on the open market so we could get him cheap. Calvin Pryor has the range to be a playmaker at FS and has the fearlessness of a LB. I would target him if we traded down in the first. Ahmad Dixon should be considered in the second, then possibly Deonne Bucannon in the 3rd. It's about time we take a playmaker at the safety position for a change.

Except for the horrific angles he regularly took that only worked somewhat because of his speed.

Not sure Clemons would fall under that though. remember what he said about Clemon in 2012?

"The guy's tough. He keeps his mouth (shut)," Philbin said, stopping himself mid sentence before recovering with a "he just comes to work."

My guess is they want him to test thw waters so they know the market. There is a lot of talent at FS in the draft. I would love to see terrance Broooks a mid-round target. The guy has very good instincts (something Clemons doesn't have) and hits like a ton of bricks.

As others have said. Clemons is a solid FS. Rarely makes game changing plays but then again rarely gives up the big play. Bring him back on a decent contract if not mid round pick. Maybe Terrance Brooks out of FSU in the 3rd.

Not a big fan of Byurd also not a big fan of having both safeties with huge contracts.
