Do we feel like if we let him take over as a starting safety this year he would do well enough to contribute on a consistent basis without giving up too many plays? I remember last season every time he came in to play he did a great job. Thoughts?

is he going to play safety or corner this year? I liked what I saw from him on special teams and spot duty on the D, he is one of the players I hope has a great year 1-2 transformations like OV.

I was thinking of posting a thread on all the youngins for next year.

I think resigning Delmas is possibilty and I am hoping this kid makes a move. But at safety or CB? I thought the original intention was at safety but then due to injuries he played CB.

Tannenbaum has said multiple times that the safety corps will not look the same at the start of the year. Somebody significant is getting added.

Aikens needs to walk before he can run. Maybe he shows enough in a reserve role this year, that he can play more in 2016. You can't trust him yet, and you sure know that Philbin and Coyle won't as it takes a lot to get those guys to trust youngsters. I agree that I see his future at safety.

Aikens isnt ready. I'd rather michael Thomas start

If we don't sign anyone else I bet Thomas is ahead

Aikens is a nice dude. He was hanging out with fans after the preseason game at Tampa last year. Was real talkative and taking pics with anyone/everyone who asked.

Neither Thomas or Aikens are good enough to start

I would roll with Thomas if we lucked out on the draft and June 6th FAs. No panick.

I liked what I saw in potential last year but can he turn into another Reshad Jones that's a tough one.

Tannenbaum said this "multiple times"?

Link?

Unless Hickey has a trade in mind or knows something about a safety in this safety void draft no one else knows, I don't see that being the case. I see a Jones, Delmas/Thomas safety core we had last year.

and honestly that is not a bad thing. i like Thomas, he is showing some things, yet still has much to work on and prove. Aikens needs to do the same!!! Delmas, when healthy, is great on the field and as a worker!!! not a bad few guys to have there for ya!!! oh yeah... we all know on Jones too!!!

Delmas or Goldson are the only viable options on the free agent market

I think you are mistaken on Aikens playing great when he came in. He was in cover for only 35 plays all year, was thrown at 5 times giving up 4 complete for 40 yards and 25 YAC but, did have 1 good play with a pick. He needs another year.
