Gus was not as bad as you would be led to believe. I'll be honest, after watching what Feeley did at the end of the second quarter I would be more concerned with him and his judgement. Gus did ok, other than the fumble. He didn't get much help from blocking or receiving.
In addition, the defense looked pretty good other than the long plays by Parker. Crowder, Howard, Daniels, and Bell looked good. Welker was the most consistent player of the night on special teams and offense. I do not blame him too much on the fumble he had. Nor do I blame Newman too much for his fumble.
I will admit to over-reaction last nite to Gus's performance. I will not admit to over-reaction to the mental mistakes. They were just awlful and led to equal assessments by Dolphin and Steeler observers. I would still start Gus.
