Winner Under Construction
I bumped this thread because what I'm trying to impart to you all in the OP still applies, even after such a disastrous streak of losses. I'd also like to add some perspective by recounting here Bill Walsh's career with the 49ers. I've always thought Philbin reminded me a bit of Bill Walsh in his approach to the game and his style. Hell, he's even running Walsh's WCO. As you can see, it took Walsh 3 years to even get to a playoff game with the hapless 49ers. Before you comment, please review the points I've made in the OP. I am NOT an advocate of cleaning house . . . yet. I think it would be a huge mistake.
However, if there is a GM or staff member available this year that Philbin feel's more comfortable with next year, I would listen to him if I'm the owner, and allow him to make some tweaks. It's all about getting us a perennial playoff team, folks. Not just a quick, and therefore unlikely to be successful, fix. How many times have we tried that now?
