We are lucky for 2 glaring reasons, as I see it.

1. Ted Ginn had Troy Smith throwing him passes in college, and didn't get to show his full potential as a receiver.

2. Ted Ginn was limited to one play for 90+ yards and a touchdown in the National Championship. His draft stock may have risen past #9 had he gone on to accumulate 300+ yards of total offense (even with UF kicking away from him).

Im just not sold on him he hurt his ankle just jumping up and down after a TD CELB.

Ted Ginn, Jr has only been playing WR full time for only 3 years. He's still learning the position. He relys mostly on his great speed and at the college level is enough to get by on. He'll have to run better routes or he'll be just another Troy Williamson, Roddy White and every other speedy WR who is and has struggled in the NFL.

you aren't suggesting we take him with our pick, are you ???

no way !!!

Agreed. WR's are a riskier pick than most positions in the top 10.
There are always good WR's to be found in the later rds.

I am absolutely suggesting we take him in the first.

I think it's fairly obvious that Ginn's the type of player that doesn't come around too often (Reggie Bush and Devin Hester, and that's it).

High School National Champion 100m Hurdles.

I would love Jarrett as well, and I'm obviously sold on WR as our position to draft. WR should also be BPA at our spot with Jarrett/Ginn as potentials. Otherwise, maybe P. Willis.

When judging a WR for the top 10, you have to run down the checklist.

Technique - Route Running, precision, etc.. Ginn is worse than Holmes/Jackson were last year.. hardly top 10 worthy

Blocking - Ginn, again, doesn't block for squat.

Hands - Mediocre at best. I watched three Ohio State games this year besides the Florida game last night where he did not play. He's dropped well over 10 passes thrown his way in those games.

Speed - He's got it.

Size - ( This is me personally. New NFL Rules obviously make it easier for smaller receivers, but in Miami's offense, we need a size receiver. Culpepper plays much better with big receivers ) Ginn is edging towards 6'1, but he's about 170 lbs...

Ginn is definitely worth a look in the 2nd round, possibly in the lowwww first round, but I find him overhyped, to be honest.

I think Meachem and Steve Smith from USC will turn out to be better pro wide receivers than Ted Ginn. In such a deep WR draft, you want Miami to use their 1st rounder on a position that isn't priority number 1? At the 7th pick of the 2nd round, there will be a tremendous talent available at WR, I guarantee that. Miami should take a WR in the 2nd round, whether it be Robert Meachem, Steve Smith, or Sidney Rice in the 3rd round.

If it came down to Jarret or Ginn, there would be no question in my mind. I mean, NFL scouts are already saying that Dwayne Jarret is the next Keyshawn Johnson.. which I would 100% gladly take!

I'm also very confused how you saying Ted Ginn was under-utilized as a WR.. his style ( Just run faster than the DB ) fits perfectly with a quarterback like Troy Smith, who was a HEISMAN TROPHY WINNER AT QUARTERBACK.

Im sure if he had Russel throwing the ball to him, they'd hit so hard that they would stick and Ginn wouldnt drop them, right? Ridiculous.

I still hope we choose Ted Ginn at #9, unless we choose Jarrett or Pat Willis.

These are the only players I'd be happy with at that spot unless either Quinn, Russell, Thomas, or Johnson falls to us.
