It's a frustrating time to be a Dolphin fan and that's understandable. But, let's be honest, the draft is how you build a team. This, I believe, will be Jeff Ireland's last draft unless it's very successful. Steven Ross won't wait long, but if he fires Ireland now what will that say about him? That he can't handle public opinion? The Dolphins, and Ireland, have to get the draft right. That's a must. Ross also needs to hire a president of football operation maybe Jason Taylor as suggested. Perhaps Paul Warfield or try Dan Marino again. Lower ticket prices and explain to fans that the price will be reduced until the team starts winning. It's a crucial offseason with every other AFC East team making more moves in free agency. But things can change in a hurry in the NFL. We need to find the qb of the future and make the right moves. If Ireland doesn't do it in the draft, we will soon have a new GM. If he strikes gold and the team starts winning, players will want to come here again. Winning solves everything.

The reason Jeff Ireland is in this position is because he(and others) dropped the ball the last 4 times. Somehow, i dont think its going to be "5th times a charm!"

Because he screwed the pooch this offseason with a laundry list of errors, he now has to find a franchise quarterback, pro-bowl worthy wideout, passrusher, replacement for whatever the hell we are doing at safety(which he hasnt been able to solve since letting Hill leave), and a right tackle. So yeah, im not going to be surprised when we walk out of this draft with a right tackle for a first round pick. Good luck Jeff.

I dunno any more. Not because Ireland can't be a good GM. But the things that have gone down over the past 12 years the fan base some how feels he deserves to pay the price. Half of me feels bad for Ireland, but the other half thinks he really needs to do a better job communicating with our fan base.

He should get on the radio once a week, host a radio show IMO. I wish someone would get in his ear with that, I think it would help a lot. Not only help him, but most importantly help the Dolphins be more successful. The way things are right now, there's just a whole bunch of bad Karma flowing all around.

To me as things stand right now, the talking heads in Miami, are out to get him, there's a lot of blood in the water. And we all know the press lives off of blood. I listened to Alex Marvez this morning on the Joe Roses show basically laugh with delight about what is taking place with the Dolphins. I'm sorry, that kind of stuff is beyond inappropriate, even for an opinion based journalist. It's obvious to me he is a sign that a lot of the media covering this franchise have lost their ability to report with out personal bias.

Maybe not getting Manning and dealing with all this stuff will turn out to be a blessing in disguise. You have to feel things have to start going our way eventually. I have been with this team for four decades and while we all hate what has happened since Marino retired, we will have our day in the sun one of these days. :woot:

Agree with the above... but, the thing that gets the fans irked the most is Ireland's lack of people skills. He comes across as an arrogant individual. I understand why, with the amount of years we have been loosing, the fans and the local media target him as much as they do.

I agree. In a way, as much as I love Peyton Manning, I think he would have set this franchise back. His contract definitely could have handcuffed the organization. Plus, I don't know if the team would have drafted the quarterback of the future if Manning were here. I really do think that the Dolphins need to hire someone above Jeff Ireland who can communicate with the media and who knows football.

True. That's why I really think Stephen Ross would be smart to hire someone above Jeff Ireland that players and fans respect. That person could be the one that can smooth things over with the media and the fans. That said, the focus has to be on winning and at least showing the right direction toward that. Has there every been a more crucial draft for this team?

Right the ship???? ... We're a submarine with screen doors!!

Nice post OP.

I like what Ireland did the last couple years bringing in Dansby, Marchall, Bush, Moore, Burnett etc.

I like what Ireland did this year bringing in CB/S Marshall, Westerman, the canadian RB, Hicks and Garrard. I think they still need to bring in a veteran WR and i think Edwards is unsigned, yeah, i said it.0

With a good draft, the Phins could be competing right away. They need upgrade/depth at QB, RG/RT, TE, WR, and safety. Weeden is available. There are lots of Guards and Tackles and WR's in this years draft. The phins have great chance to really surprise people this year.

I think Ireland is doing a good job.

GO PHINS~!
