Something I've been thinking about and mentioned a few times at the beginning of the season. Joey and Jason don't synchronize well together for whatever reason. Both of them essentially are built to play the same position.

In 2006 JT was a monster and DPOY. 2007 he had a good season but that was his first season with Joey Porter and Joey was pretty much invisible that year while playing out of position. 2008 JT is gone and JP has a monster season. 2009 JT is back and both of them are mediocre.

Both of them together is a bad idea. We need to let one of them go and replace him with a real top notch outside LB. We also desperately need to upgrade our ILB's.

I honestly think Joey and JT together just doesn't work. One or both of them need to go.

There shouldn't be any question for long time Dolphins fans. JT without a doubt. He is more of a playmaker still than JP ever was.

While I kind of agree...I would like to keep both and use JT like we did this year, but JP as strictly a situational pass rusher and develop Wake or another OLB as an all down player. But if I had to choose one, I'd def keep JT. No brainier.

They're both getting long in the tooth, but "If" you could only keep one then just got down to payroll and you'll find your answer there.

I wouldn't be surprised if neither were here next year. I think the only way Porter sticks around is if the FO thinks he can help us land former teammate Casey Hampton.

Why would we cut either of our starting OLBs when we lack competent replacements for them?

I think the only circumstances where either or both of them go is if the FO knows they can either land a pass rusher in free agency or get a young pass rusher in the Draft. Either way, they both had good seasons.

Taylor had 7 sacks and 3 FF
Porter had 9 sacks and 1 FF

Pretty decent year if you ask me

I would feel more comfortable if Porter was shown the door and JT was a mentor/backup type for the new guys coming in.

And they are coming in, right Ireland?

You put JT back at his original LB position, and then put Wake on the left side, and you watch and see if Miami does not all of a sudden become much more dangerous and consistant pass-rushing. We will probably need a better O-LB agaist the run (Why did we let Roth go ), and we will be much better off.

I have no where near an amount of loyalty to Porter, that I do with Taylor.....
