I remember a time when we were causing HAVOC ALL OVER THE PLACE, INT'S, FORCED FUMBLES. We dont seem to get many turnovers anymore. Is this from a Lack of Play Makers, is it scheme, not sure, any ideas??

one game with no turnovers this season?

i noticed that too. our secondary i have little to no faith they will create many int's. and our pass rushers aren't creating enough havoc. i don't think its the same defence the whole league used to fear.

we need more playmakers on D to start steppin up and get us the momentum. a couple turnovers in teh first two games and we could have squeaked out wins.

Two guys who are no longer here, or in their prime for that matter. Patrick Surtain was one of the best in the league at intercepting passes. It didn't help having an all-pro opposite of him either. Any body else miss the days of having Surtain, Thomas, Madison, Taylor, Ogunleye and Marion all in their prime?

talent.

The Dolphins defense is old and doesn't have the talent it did in hte late 90's

we dont have any playmakers on defense. you can argue jt. zach has always been solid, one of the best, but hes not an elite playmaker. neither one of them is, they have had ample opportunity to step up over the years and rarely did so...

The amount of turnovers defenses cause from year to year is very unpredictable and it rarely shows a pattern. The Bengals led the league last year in turnovers caused, but I don't think anyone mistaked them for the Steelers. I think part of it is the amount of pressure you put on the QB. If you get in his face, you make it harder for him to see obviously. If you get to him quickly, you cause him to throw it before he wants to. Those things cause misques in timing and just plain bad throws. I think that is a big part of it. You always here about being in the right place at the right time, but no one really knows how or why that works. So the only thing I can think of that would definitely cause more turnovers is getting more and quicker pressure on the QB. Good coverage on top of that would help too.

our corners are not the same. We cant play man to man and attack with blitzes like we used to.Surtain and Madison allowed us to take more chances

lack of playmakers on the defensive side of the ball. The phins don't have the "Sean Taylor" type saftey, the "Terrance Newman" type corner, or the "Joey Porter" type linebacker. All we do have is the "Jason Taylor" type defensive linemen. Just not enough playmakers if you ask me. Other then Jason Taylor I don't think anybody on our defense strikes fear in any offense in the league. We don't have the hard hitter, or the shut down corner, or the sideline to sideline, drop into converage, cover the TE type of linebacker. We just don't have it.

Lack of playmakers. It isn't the scheme since even the Patriots were able to force a few turnovers so far. When Sam Madison, Patrick Surtain, Brock Marion, and Sammy Knight left, all our playmakers in the secondary were gone. What we have left are solid but unspectacular players who can make a tackle but can't break up the pass or be relied upon. As for fumbles, give Zach and JT some more time and those will rack up. As for interceptions, the league leader will probably have more ints than our whole team combined.

Only hopes were on Allen (who had 4 ints his rookie season but can't catch period), Goodman (who probably benefited by Dre Bly on the other side), Tillman (who seems lost w/o Schulters next to him), Bell (well he can get sacks on blitzes), and Daniels (who is injured) but neither has performed.

yup.

We don't have any physical players on defense for one thing. We don't have any headhunting safety that will knock the snot out of a receiver or an OLB who will pulverize a ballcarrier. We need to find a few physical defenders who will take an opponents head off.

I'm hoping that Jason Allen can be used as a blitzer, like Jerry Wilson. When he came off the corner. Jason has alot of speed for that role. JMO though
