Last night they said the window is closing on this team because of the d-line's age and that we have 30 free agents on the team..

That's why generic announcers suck. The only announcers that know jack about a given team are the announcers that specialize in that team. The generic announcers have stat man whispering to them through headphones (Dolphins have 30 free agents) and then they say it on live TV. They couldn't name 5 of them.

As biased as Sunday 1PM local announcers are, I'd rather have them because they know about their team.

We have 30 free agents because every year half of the team are signed from the practice squad or are fill in free agents. With 22 starting positions, more then half the team doesn't play more then 5 snaps a game. And these 31 guys don't get long contracts.

I heard that too.... but is that even possible? Thats over half the team? They also said last night that culpepper missed meetings, and came back to say that was false. So maybe they made two errors.....hopefully.....

Look at the bright side. Think of all the money we will save and think of all the compensatory picks we will get. :D

THERE ARE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN UNRESTRICTED AND RESTRICTED FREE AGENTS:wink:

So dont hold your breath for all those draft picks because you will die:eek:

most of the FA'S stink, they are guys like anderson, jacoux, traylor, the few that matter are bell, welker, lemon, holiiday, bowens, so are we really hurting losing most of these guys no, you resign welker and the rest you see how it goes

I believe that the "30" number includes all kinds of free agents -- restricted and unrestricted. So, it's really not that bad.

There is no way that over half of this team are free agents.

Do you have a list of them?

this link is not quite up-to-date

According to Alex Marvez, as of 12/3/06:

"The Dolphins have $91.2 million counting against the NFL's 2007 salary cap of $109 million. That figure is comprised of the cap figures of 35 players currently under contract and 'dead money' that counts toward players no longer with the team. A cap number is generally comprised of base salary, roster bonuses and a prorated portion of signing bonus."

Even if we did have 30 free agents, only about 5 of them would be worth keeping.
