With us facing Chris Johnson this week I started to wonder how the top backs have faired against us this year.

rank

4) Jones - 42yds - 2tds
4) Jones - 102yds - 0tds
5) Drew - 59yds - 0tds
6) Williams -122yds - 0tds
12) Turner - 65yds - 0tds
17) Jackson - 42yds - 0tds
17) Jackson - 73yds - 2tds
18) Addai - 32yds - 0tds
20) Thomas - 30yds - 0tds

Thats an average of 63yds and 0.5tds a game

Our run D has been great considering the fact we having aging LB's and an aging NT in Ferguson.

Even if Johnson doubled our season average and pulled out a 126yds and 1td game (not bad) I think we could survive that kind of output.

If we hold CJ to that, I think we win. The key will be if VY young plays. If Collins plays, I would be very confident that we win even if its really close.

The VY thing is big plus I didn't include receiving yards in my math and CJ is a huge threat as a receiver as well.

So you've basically said we face a top 2/3 back in 2/3 of our games.

With only 32 teams in the NFL, there's nothing unusual about facing a "top 20" back. Most teams have one.

The point wasn't really how many we faced but how we faired against them...:tumbleweed:

Ur basically making an argument for rushing yards per game (given up by our fins)

and

Rushing TDs (given up by our fins)

Rushing yards per game=106.1 yards per game=Rank 13th

Rushing TDs=15th=Tied for the 5th most...

Basically we are in the middle of the pack against the run. Not to mention one of the worst against the pass.

Lets say we keep Chris Johnson in check...Doesnt matter if LenDale White goes for 50 and 2 TDs....Still a fail...

Don...Im usually on ur side...but this isnt much of an arguement...Plus, say we do shut down CJ (running). We still have to contain his recieving yards.

Go Dolphins

I hear what your saying and thats why I singled out just what other top backs have produced on the ground against us. This wasn't about what Tennessee as a team might do just Johnson. I also mentioned in this thread that CJ is a huge receiving threat coming out of the backfield.

If your curious what teams other back did against us while we focused on their #1 (you mentioned White)

Stewart 43 - 0
Bell 80 - 0
Norwood 7 - 0
Brown 26 - 1
Bennett 18 - 0
Lynch 4 - 0
Washington 45 - 0
Greene 18 - 0
Faulk 15 - 0

Another factor in the run game will obviously be how healthy Young is because he could gut us.

Anyway the point of this thread wasn't to say we would or wouldn't shut down or even slow down Johnson it was only to show how other top backs have faired against us.

That's what happens when your secondary is poor...teams tend to attack your weakness hence the huge passing plays we have given up all season long...teams ran just enough to keep us honest then torched our safeties and corners

I am scared of Young more than johnson...

We can shut down running backs we have shown that...If teams stick with it thats when we get in trouble so it just depends on how things go early...

I am pretty confident we beat them unless our offense plays really awful

How about top 20 QB's? The D has been tested this yr and look at the wr still on the schedule.....when we clinch the division we will have earned it.
