We have Too Many of These

The odds of Bowens being 50/50 are grossly overstated. That is a devastating injury for someone in his position. The constant contact makes his return highly unlikely. I'd give it 80/20 against returning for any duration of time. He might come back in a limited role. If he tries to go full time, he's done - quickly.

What are you talking about? Are you privy to some sort of inside information no one else is on Tim Bowens back? The last thing we have heard on Tim Bowens that he is not retiring, and that his doctor has said he should be able to play football in 2005.

WHO CARES about that DT spot. The two-gap tackle spot is a MAJOR question right now. Bowens is 50/50 to even play and Chester's injury was not a joke. If we get stuck again with 295-300 pounders playing both DT spots again we are SCREWED for run defense.
maybe we would be screwed in JJ's, Wannys system, but then again they weren't willing to do anything with that vanilla defense of thiers. I think nick is more than capable of figuring out a way to make 300 pound guys effective. :D Have faith and toss out everything you THOUGHT you knew about our defense.

Sorry coaching can only take you so far. The Eagles have lighter DTs inside however they struggled MIGHTILY until Trotter started at MLB. We don't have a nearly 260 pound MLB so if we have both Holliday and Carter starting at DT for us we are officially screwed.

It would be nice if Miami called up Jermaine Haley who did well backing up Chester and Bowens. He didn't succeed in Washington but we need depth at DT.

I'm a bit late on the reply but...

I agree, i'm sick of seeing "should we trade for Shelton?" when we already have 3 people competing for the job. I think we should maybe look at a DT over 300 pounds though. We need safety help and maybe a receiver. That's about it.

Keep in mind we are not going to have the exact personel that Saban wants within his first year as HC. So talking about how we need a bigger MLB like jaj said doesnt really make much sense. Same goes to everyone else that says we need this and that because they dont meet the physical characteristics that we think Saban wants.

So if your trying to say that we need bigger people Jaj, dont expect it to happen this year. Thomas will be starting and so with JT, but who knows about next year as Saban then will be in full force with designing his new D.

good point, I think that the homer in all of us would like to think that we can fix all the problems we inherited from wanny in one offseason, and only a few teams have ever done that, and none recently that didn't have a Manning or a healthy, hungry, warner at the helm.

Anyway after some quick research I found this gem, and while it doesn't prove my point, in fact it disproves it, I thought everyone would find this interesting.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/statitudes/news/2002/01/07/worsttofirst_nfl/

Overall, there have been 15 worst-to-first seasons in the NFL since the 1970 merger, with six coming in the past five years. This is only the second time that two teams have done it in the same season. The other was 1999, when the Rams and Colts won their divisions.

now keep in mind over a 34 year period it only happened 15 times.

some quick flawed math, (averaging 34 years mulitpled by 28 ((teams)) equals 952 total teams, then divid that by at least 6 winning teams a year... 748.

so in concluesion we have about a 2 percent chance of being a worst to first team.

Before anyone posts a new thread about trading for player or acquire a player they should know this

We will not sign any players for the following positions since we allready have too many of these

O-lineman : (LT,LG,RT,RG) maybe a Center (good competition there)
Running Back : (we allready had to cut like 3 of them, Minor is next)
D-Lineman : (No more) We drafted like 50
Linebacker : (Enough linebackers allready)
Cornerback : (I believe Madison, Howard, Poole, Daniels are good enough)
Kicker : (Mare is fine, his girlfriend left him so he was out of sync last year)
Punter : (Matt Turk way better than Royals and holds best for Mare)
Quaterback : A close source of mine told me Berlin is playing good in Mini-camps and Rosenfels could be in jeopardy)..By the way, give Feeley a chance in Camp.
FB ( Evans, Martin and Morris) One will be cut anyways
Tight End (McMike, Lee, Holmes) Good depth

All we need is a Safety and possibly a receiver unless Boston comes back. If you are researching players, search WR and SAFETIES.

You'd make a great GM

Its good to have many players because then you can pick from a wide variety the best ones and cut the rest. Saban knows what hes doing.

Why would we not sign any new DTs? We have plenty of DEs and 3-4 DEs but we don't have many pure DT/NTs. Just two with huge injury concerns.

I agree. We need a big fat lard bowling ball unmovable NT like Ted Washington to play along with (or instead of) Chester. Bowens will retire.

"Berlin's looking good in practice and we might let Sage go?" Are you kidding me!!!!!! They've been through four practices with the ROOKIES and UDFA's. There is NO WAY that they have decided after two days that they think Brock will unseat Sage. Get Real!!!!
