Another reason why our season is looking bleak is due to the fact that we don't have any young studs on offesne or defense. In the last 5 years, can you name 1 player we drafted that has become a pro-bowler or even someone who we could rely on and say hey, this guy is better than average at his position (excluding R. Brown).

I'm sorry to say, but Ronnie Brown is becoming more and more like a Stephen Davis type back than a L.T. Don't get me wrong, I think Brown is a solid back but one who needs an adequate line in front of him to be successful. He's not a game-breaker by himself, a la Barry Sanders.

Name 1?

Crowder? (at best, he is an average linebacker...nothing special)
Carey? (again, average at best)
Roth? (he's got alligator arms.....no good when you want to deflect passes)
Wade Smith, McKinney, Hadnot ---> pathetic
Jason Allen? (he's becoming more and more like Rudy. Instead of chanting Ruuudy, Ruudy....we should chant Alllen, Allllllen so that he could get on the field for the last 30 seconds).

we did well in the draft, dude. LAST YEAR we had the MOST rookie starters on our team believe it or not.

Brown, Crowder, Daniels...who else? thats it i think.

but Fred Evans proves to be a stud....Joe Toledo was praised by coaches...Derek Hagan (he needs to get the ball more). Jason Allen decked out some guys yesterday.

dont forget Carey and Hadnot were Wanny Picks. But Roth was a DECENT pick...Vickerson was OKAY. Manny Wright showed lots of potential last year.

:yeahthat:

all these avg. picks are on a below avg team, we definetely need some help in the draft room.

I was pondering this myself today. And the majority of it the problem is from the Wanne years. Don't forget the #1's dealt away for Ricky. It will take Saban years to recover from the drought that was left behind.

But none of those guys are world beaters or even pro-bowlers. And by taking a close look at them, they are all complimentary players rather than playmakers. We are missing playmakers. If you take a look at our secondary, we have NO playmakers.

Sorry but Crowder is much better than you give him credit for. Our problems are the o-line and the secondary. The secondary has actually been merely ok, but not horrible. The o-line has been atrocious but our lack of commitment to the run is the MAIN REASON for our problems. Teams just pin their ears back and go at the QB every play cause they know we won't run it much. Why? That is the real question.

Still young and still has time but Ronnie as of now isn't by any means one of the better backs in the NFL. Dolphin fans all seam to tie the (Dolphin) future to him and few will agree with what I'm saying. But it's not uncommon for a RB to carry a team on his back even with poor O-line play (Ricky did it much the end of last year). Until Ronnie gives defenses a reason to fear (or respect) him as that kind of a player he is just a moderate use to the overall offense and him on the field alone does nothing. Facts are facts and tell me he only had 12 carries last game one more time and it wont matter. He has around the 3rd or 4th worst average per carry in the top 30 back in the NFL. Anyone who argues he is elite is fooling themselves.

Ronnie Brown can be a top 5 back if we get him the ball. Everytime I see Ronnie run the ball every yard he gets he has to fight for. No one would say the Edge is a bad back but when you dont have an o line you cannot make plays

RB gets the ball 13 or 14 times a game you cannot do anything with that unless you are Reggie Bush and even he is having trouble.

A lot of the reasons so many picks started last year was that Saban re-did the roster. He HAD to play Crowder and Daniels. They did ok. The stat can be deceiving - it's really how the players develop over time. Crowder could end up like Derick Rodgers. Plays ok as a rookie, but does not get any better. Remember JJ's great 96 draft, with all the new starters? Of course, it included Zach, but also Shane Burton, Shawn Wooden, Stanley Pritchet, KAJabbar. They started because he turned over the roster (someone has to play).

Fred Evans made the team, and has potential. But, he has not even been active for a game yet (I think). A little early to be called a "stud". Hagan has played, with little to show for it.

OL? Absolutely no help there from the draft. And whether you believe that the OL is ALL of the problem, or PART of the problem (with Cpep and/or Mularky)...we can all agree that this OL is pretty bad.

I'll agree with you. I'm not a "RB is a bust" guy - I think he is a really solid player with a lot of talent, and a great upside. I just would like more out of him. I don't know if he is is lacking vision or simply enough touches. I think Jim Mandich had an interesting take on RB (which I agree with). He said he likes EVERYTHING about Ronnie Brown, EXCEPT the end result.

Daniels looks like he's going to be pretty good, our safetys needs to help him out more. Allen needs to play. The O-Line we've drafted over the last 5 years has been below average. We need more help in the secondary. Also our D-Line is getting old, we need to get draft D-Line within the next couple years to get ready to move on.

ronnie averaged 4.1 ypc yesterday. 3.4 the game before and before that 4.7. Give him some space and then see what happens. For the season he's ave over eight ypr. He is an all around back.

The other guys we've drafted arent playing much because we have veterans playing in front of them. It's called "grooming". How many rookies come out and make the probowl? How many do it in two yrs? Your asking for rediculous results in such a short period.
