We just signed DE Adell Duckett

A player who flashes the ability to be a disruptive force, Duckett is effective when motivated and on his game. offers some growth and potential, but must prove he has motivation!

That's good news. I had been looking at him for a while now. He's a pass rush specialist.

Strengths: Excellent pass rusher and sack artisit...Athletic...Fast and quick with a burst...Productive...Good tackler...Shows some potential to make the move to linebacker.Weaknesses: Undersized...One dimensional pass rusher...Needs to be more consistent with his technique...Struggles to shed blocks...Relies too much on his speed.Notes: A productive college player but a DE / OLB 'tweener...May fit in best as a 3-4 OLB at the pro level.

Here's his official bio.

Speed guy, and a good pass rusher. When he was motivated in college, he dominated the guy across from him. Love the pickup, potential big upside, especially if he can convert to OLB, and be a big time blitzer.

thats a big azz potential LB. 6'4 271? if any of these huge LBs Nick is picking up shows any potential, good bye Pope, Ayanbedejo, Jenkins, et al

He looks kind of like JT (not in ability- but his actual picture)

I read where it said he might be more suitable for 3-4 LB since he's a tweener. I also read where he ran a 4.85 40. He weighs 270 so isn't this a bit slow for an LB?

Anthony Alabi named him as one of the toughest DEs he faced in college.

You beat me to it. I was going to mention this when I saw the topic. This only proves that great minds think alike.

You need a lot of DE/LB guys to run the 3/4 D.

According to Texas Tech's web site he signed with the Chargers

The only thing I remember about Duckett was he kept giving Philip Rivers fits. NC State and Texas Tech had a home-and-home series in 2002 and 2003. Wild games especially the first. I had a big bet on NC State in the 2003 rematch based on my prized anti-revenge theory. I won but that damn Adell Duckett was the only Tech defender who seemed intent on trying at all on defense. I know he caused at least one turnover.
