I really believe we need a TE over a WR in this off season. Our WR production was good. Hartline Bess Cam and even Ginn at points made tremendous plays for us. However, can you count the number of tremendous plays our TEs have done? I don't think WR is as big a problem as most make of it. If you give this offense a good physical blocking/pass catching TE it would open up the opportunities for our WHOLE offense.

Look at all the playoff teams.. Many of them have excellent TEs that are a dual threat (blocking/catching). Colts: Clark | Chargers: Gates | Cowboys: Witten | Saints: Shockey | Pats: Ben Watson.

Before we spend a pick or a lot of money getting a free agent lets spend it on a TE and defense. Defense needs help BAD. We gave up the most points in the league in the fourth quarter. And whether Ginn can catch a ball or not he still demands coverage over the top due to his speed. Hes been open a lot this season but just cannot haul the pass in. I hope he fixes it in the offseason. But Cam Bess and Hartline have great hands and Bess is a chain moving machine. Throw an athletic TE in the mix and we got ourselves an explosive offense. FIX THE D, NOT THE O!!!

We have four WRs who caught for 500-700 yards. We need a #1.

Our TEs are some of the worst in the league. But that maybe misleading because of the system, and their blocking assignments too. Of course, the numerous drops and fumbles by Fasano does not help. That's why I think we should trade Fasano and get a guy like Dedrick Epps from Miami.

I agree we need a TE but I could also argue that the playoff teams you listed also have a true #1 WR, something the Dolphins don't have.

And they also have very good veteran quarterbacks who leaned heavily on their te's early on in their careers. I kind of relate Henne to a young Bledsoe and if we could get Henne a Ben Coates type te I think it would help him develop.

This name of the thread should be changed, if were really saying we dont need WR's then some have blinders on. We need alot of positions. Saying we need a TE and D and NOT WR is simply rediculous.

TE isn't a priority IMO. I like the trio of Fasano, Hanos, and Sperry. Sperry could develope and Hanos is only in his 2nd year. We need ILB, HB, Safety help and o-line depth IMO.

I just looked up some stats quick and before Brees had Gates he threw 28 td's and 31 int's after gates 27 td's 7 int's. And Brady's te's have finished first or second in td receptions every year except 2007. Good te's give Qb's a security blanket in the red zone. I think a te would really help Henne's development. Even Manning really benefited from having Marcus Pollard early in his career. And everyone knows Romo is in love with Whitten. A good te is a young Qb's best friend.

In my mind it is not close. This is not a 3-4 wide WR offense, it is much more of a 2 TE offense. Fasano had a down early year and it makes little sense to trade him. Instead you let him have a better year and add someone. Trading a young good around TE like Fasano is a knee jerk reaction when he rated overall as the 5th best in the NFL. He did not catch a lot of balls because we did not throw him a lot of passes.

Plus Henne had a rookie year, he was not close to being as accurate as Pennington was.

I would have taken Jared Cook over Pat White last year but maybe we counted on Martin coming back. Fasano only caught 3 less passes then last year so it was the lack of a good second option rather then his lack of season long poor play. He did have problems early in the year but played very well late.

As far as adding ANOTHER rookie WR to this team, I'd rather stop other teams then always count on outscoring them at least until Henne greatly improves.

See and that isnt bad considering its four of them that have those stats. We spread the ball around, you really don't need a #1. Give this O an option down the middle of the field and that will create mismatches on LBS and/or keep the safeties occupied to give the WRs and HBs more room. Would also help Henne as he would have a sure handed target. And yes I do think we DO NOT need any WR help. Who gets demoted? Bess Cam or Hartline? All 3 are excellent. We have enough talent at WR. Fasano is good, but he seems to disappear in games and doesn't have any speed at all. I see Fasano as a 2nd TE in this offense.

I wouldn't spend a first round on it. Depending on whos coming out maybe rounds 2 or 3. I would go either LB or safety first (hoping we get rid of Wilson) then TE.

Saying a QB doesn't need a quality TE is silly in the first degree.

You look need look no further than Thigpen w/ Tony G.

Fasano disappeared in 08 and did a consistent job this year of playing pick a boo.

And you end up w/ a avg offense that doesn't scare anyone. I can't believe people don't see the lacking of offensive play makers.

LB is a must. Clemmons may be our answer at FS and Bell and Wilson can fight for SS. I'm leaning toward McClain or Spiller with pick 1.

Colts: Wayne | Chargers: Jackson | Cowboys: Austin | Saints: Colston| Pats: Moss, Welker.

They all have reliable #1 receivers. I agree out TE production is less than what it needs to be to go a long way but until we have a chunk yardage, reliable, sure handed, talismanic, influential number one WR, our offense will be much easier to stop than any of the ones you've mentioned.

I've been saying this for some time; we're our best receiver away from having one of the best corps in the league. But without that number one guy, it's frail at best.
