I know it seems like we develop offensive players slowly, always reining them in, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. This team needs to grow together, at a pace that leaves noone behind and gives every opportunity for redemption after a bad outing. This coaching staff has been ridiculously tentative in Henne's development, making sure his first 10 times he saw action were against 2nd and 3rd team D's with protection from 1st team O-lines. This is no mistake, it's a formula, you learn the job in small pieces gaining confidence in the skills at this level as you advance. Now, if you will, apply this logic to Joey Haynos or Ernest Wilford. I believe in Wilfords case his unmotivated blocking and special teams play kept him from reaping the rewards of being called a WR in our system. While in Haynos' case you can see a solid constant progression in all areas of TE play. We may already have the tall, strong, possession TE that our gameplan dictates on our roster, and I see his level of participation only growing in the weeks to come. Great players don't come out of nowhere, and to get them already groomed costs more than just money. When you develop them in house every team member shares in their success...in more ways than one.
